I’ve worn these boots several times on both gravel trails and in a more wooded trail settings as well as casual wear and I was very happy with them. The toe box is roomier than my other keens but not to an uncomfortable extent. I had no issues with getting them on or off, and they fit well with thick socks and thinner wool socks. Lacing them up, I did have to be careful how tight I made the mid section of the boot, as it dug in a little bit but I expect they’ll loosen up a little over time. The heel fits really well and offers great ankle support, a necessity in hiking boots. The traction is good and I feel stable when wearing them, as a couple of hikes I did, the ground was wet and we had to navigate around some rocky bits and I didn’t feel worried at all. They also clean up easily. I’m normally a size 8 and they fit true to size for me. They also required no breaking in for me which is always a bonus with hiking footwear. I’ll be bringing them to the northeast soon and am looking forward to having them with me for the cold and probably snowy weather. These are going to be great boots for casual to more difficult hikes as well as walks on trails, dry and wet. They’re my new go-tos!
This is my second pair of keen boots and while I love the fit around my foot, the fit around the ankle is extremely painful. I wear size 11. When the boots arrived they were tightly packed in a box that honestly seemed too small to hold the boots. The ankle areas were compressed (folded in half) so badly that even after a week of trying to stretch it open (by placing a mason jar inside) they still continue to squeeze my leg causing painful rubbing against the bone of my ankle. Very, very stiff. I’m hoping in time and with leather conditioner they will relax enough so I can wear them. I love the fit around the foot. Very roomy in the toe area.
There is nothing better than finding footwear that fits like you have owned it forever. These boots have ample space for your toes and are snug through the foot and ankle, providing support rather than being constrictive. They are perfect for fall and winter weather. They kept my feet warm paired with wool socks in 17 degree weather. I did a 6 mile hike in some local wetlands and they kept my feet dry, provided good traction on wet leaves and mud, and cleaned up nicely. The best part, this was the second time I wore them and my feet felt fine. These are great boots. I would highly recommend.
I goofed and requested the wrong size (I’m typically an 8-8.5 and received a 7), but the fact that I can still comfortably wear these makes me think they run large to allow wear with thicker socks. They do run much narrower and with a smaller toe box than I’m used to with Keens, but between this and the high ankle, my feet and ankles feel very supported on all kinds of terrain while being lightweight and comfortable enough for all day use (I even tested these during an outing to the Science Center with the babe, just to see!). Good for the many trails around here and winter dog walking in the neighborhood.
Very disappointing I have worn Vasque boots for years but when the latest iteration of my St Elias boots changed the last to a narrower fit, I decided to try Keens. In 9 months the soles were pulling off and the rubber was cracking. The out sole was way more worn than it should have been in that short time. I’m not a hard core hiker. But these were my winter shoe and I do walk almost every day year round. Although they were comfortable out of the box they just didn’t hold up. Spend a little more and get a better boot. Fortunately Keen was very fair with their warranty and I was able to replace them with a much better boot.
I originally bought these in a 10.5, my typical size, and there were too big. Sized down to a 10 and they’re still roomy if I wear thin socks - but a good size now. I’d recommend going down a 1/2 size. They felt stiff at first but after a few days of wearing them they’re pretty comfortable. Sturdy but not much ankle support. Since it’s not a boot so that’s not expected. I work outside and my job requires some hiking, they’ve been good so far. Not too warm even though they’re waterproof which is nice in the summer.
Really wanted to like these boots. When on a 5 hr rocky fairly easy hike that I have done multiples times without any issues in different type of boots or even hiking shoes. These boots were awful could feel the terrain all the way and no support on my feet or ankle. Ended the hike with so much pain like never before. Days later my plantar fascia is still hurting which never before I had that issue. Return them
The opening to the boot is extremely narrow. The tongue only pulls back about an inch.
Disappointed. Sizing is so different than the Targhee II I'm used to and the boot is considerably taller too though that is not expressed in the description. Toe box is too large. Had to return.
Unfortunately with my high arch I was barely able to get my foot inside the boot as the opening is not large enough. This was without winter socks, so returning item.
