Jacket for hiking. Keeping wind and cold out!
Telluride Cat
This coat was just what I was looking for. I am 5'4" 130lbs. I ordered a medium to wear over layers when hiking. Keeping wind and cold out were my objectives in this coat. Gortex was one of my prime reasons. It is a shell and not lined. It has a high neck with a substantial hood. I like the many details with pockets. This works really well and I'm so glad I purchased this jacket.

Marmot ROM 2.0 sizing is off!

I ordered up one size to allow for layering. Unfortunately the upsizing was not what an XL should be. I am very disappointed, want to keep this, but it won't work for the purposes I had in mind. Probably only useful in warmer seasons. Also the arms are very fitted. And constricting.

just one problem

I loved the jacket but the jacket zips up a little too high so that if I didn't have the hood up it rubs on my chin. I wasn't able to roll it down to get it out of the way.

Style Change!

The fit and styling of the ROM has changed. I have two already from past years. This jacket in size small was styled like a men’s jacket. Bigger shoulder, wider waist , narrower hips and longer sleeves. Huge hood. The two previous ROM jackets I have purchased in black, and which are wearing out now, both nicely tapered at the waist and had a feminine fit to accommodate more of an hourglass figure and flatter it. Buy this if you are straight up and down with muscled shoulders and long arms. I returned this.

Great color, solid wind protection, stiff collar

Love the color and wind protection of this jacket. Really solid outer layer, and the small has enough room to still wear a fleece layer underneath. My only criticism is that the collar/hood doesn't lay totally flat, so it can feel like one of the edges of the collar is pushing up against your neck oddly when the hood is not in use. Not a big deal, but it is a different design than an earlier version of this jacket that I had that laid completely flat at the collar (less stiff).

Really impressed with this jacket

I bought this at the recommendation of an outdoor gear review site. I have not used Marmot gear before. I needed something to use backcountry skiing when it is snowing but not super cold, something that could shed the moisture but not be so heavy that I sweat when skinning. This shell works very well for this purpose. It is roomy so you can fit layers under it and has a good helmet-compatible hood. It isn't super warm but that is what I was looking for as a spring or winter layer when it is snowing, but not too cold. The wind resistance is excellent. The only thing I'd like better is if it was a little bit lighter in weight. At almost 1 pound, it is a somewhat heavy layer. But I will definitely bring it on my next backcountry trip to Canada, which is when I realized I needed a layer like this for warm-ish snowing conditions.

soft and waterproof!

this coat exceeds my expectations. it looks nice, feels nice, and is well-made. it is soft but waterproof. I 5'5" and 115lbs and the XS has room for a fluffy layer underneath, if anything it is a little large. I am happy with this coat!! thank you.

Great Soft Shell!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great soft shell. It repells rain very well. Works great for windy summits too. My favorite feature is the sinch for the hood. Great quality material and zippers, comfortable to wear. I'm very happy with this purchase!

Comfy and cute

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket has served its purpose of being waterproof and wind proof. The hood is a bit oversized which is nice. The pockets are functional and all too. Wish it had pit zips, but I can do without.

Avant + ROM= Perfection

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect coat to wear over my Marmot Avant jacket. The stretchy fabric along with the Gore-tex is exactly what is needed for variable New England weather. The two jackets compliment each other.
