This jacket will not let you down

Outdoor research products to me have been high quality. So many products we buy nowadays are in expensive and cheaply built. Outdoor research has always produced quality gear. This jacket with the down is nice and warm, the DWR comes in handy in snow storms. If the snow or rain or time of year is particularly wet I would put a hard shell over it. This jacket works great as a base layer in very cold, it also works great as a outer layer when the temperature hovers around freezing. It has enough zippers and pockets and it zips up nice and poles fairly tight around the throat and chin. I would buy it again.

I would highly recommend and buy this product again

I bought this jacket just prior to my recent trip to Glacier NP this past spring and couldn't be happier with this purchase. I have a heavier down jacket but wanted one that was lightweight for simple activities like walking the dogs. The OR Helium Down Jacket is the perfect weight and has the perfect warmth that I was looking for. It was especially perfect for early mornings or evenings in the mountains. During the few days when the windchills were a little colder than I had prepared for, I layered it under my Motive AscentShell Jacket and that did the trick just right. HIGHLY recommend this jacket!

Love my new puffy!

Great puffy. Very warm. Worn it many times casually and out in the mountains... it does not disappoint. The fir green colour is beautiful. It was shinier material than I was expecting. I am 5'6" and 135lbs and a small fits really well with room for a underneath.

So many + elements to this jacket!

OR Designers went above and beyond with this jacket. The color is an obvious wow, but that just scratches the surface. + a little longer than your normal puffy gives added warmth for those cold days on the slopes or climbing in the mountains + soft lined pockets (all of them) invite you to warm your hands in there and feel safe putting your goggles, sunglases or clear glasses in with no fear of scratching + a high collar (with a soft chin liner) gives added warmth without using a separate neck gaiter. When replacing your down jacket, THIS is your only and best choice!

Superior mobility & great warmth!

Pleasantly surprised that my new OR down jacket is so light & way to pack! Better still, it’s fabulous to have such unimpeded mobility through the arms and shoulder areas!!! My upper arms are larger than most females, this coat provides me with ample room. I’m also a bit hippy the coat rides up a bit high as a result. Hoping to get a better fit once I drop some weight. Warmth was excellent during my Arches National Park test hike. 36 degrees and I was more than warm enough. Coat ended up being tied around my waist after 2 miles of hiking in the sun. Whether wearing as coat, or tied at waist (no backpack), I’m thrilled with my purchase! Pretty green color combo & lined pockets are toasty! Surprised to find 2 sizable internal pockets as well! Love the coat!

Great jackey, but long arms and shiny material

The jacket is lovely and is surprisingly warm. I've used it for some spring camping over the last few weeks, and it did the trick nicely. Two things that prevented me from giving it a perfect score: the material was much more shiny than expected on the black jacket and the arms are much too long for me. I'm 5'2" and the sleeves fully cover my hands, though the cuff is slim enough that the sleeves don't fall over my hands when I'm using the jacket.

Absolutely worth every penny!

I can't say enough about this jacket! Its so light and surprisingly warm! My fellow hikers have been eyeing it up since it came in:) Between the three of us we own about 6 different kinds of down jackets and OR beats them all! I haven't worn it on a long hike yet but I have tried it out on a number of 4-10 km walks. I have worn it when it was down pouring, snowing and when the wind has been over 60kms. Its been amazing! It doesn't seem to get drenched with water at all. It does fit a bit bigger (I'm 5'2" 130lbs, small chested and athletic body). I bought the size small which I'm sure I could of went to the extra small with no issues but the small allows me to layer (no issues with putting a t-shirt and sweater underneath). Every time I pick it up I'm still in shocked at how light it is! I can't wait to try it out our back country adventures in Northern Ontario.

Best down jacket, hands down ;-)

I have several down jackets including ones from Eddie Bauer and Patagonia. This one has the best fit (really nice detail along bottom where it lengthens slightly along the back), best features (nice cuffs, great pockets, nice collar, fabulous color), and is BY FAR the warmest. I layer this under my shell for skiing, wear it alone to walk the dog and my torso/arms are never cold. I wish they made helium pants! LOL.

I don't think I could live without it.

I have 10 puff jackets, do I need another one? If it is the Outdoor Research Helium Down the answer is yes. The quality of this product is fantastic. It has a nice feminine cut so you don't look like a blob. The hood makes it even more versatile, and easy to use with or without a hat. In any situation where the temps will be under 55° this is my go to. If I was only going to have one puff this would be the one.
