I purchased the Guide 14s in early September 2021. As of November 11, 2021, I've put 90 miles of running and walking on this shoe with noticable superficial medial wear and tear on the show cuff (see attached pictures). I have mild over pronation on both feet (mostly right foot). I run recreationally, about 11 miles per week, and also use this shoe for walking, about 5-12 miles per week. This wear pattern is common on other shoes I wear, but usually after 150+ miles. I expected more durability from this shoe for the cost, and how it's marketed in blogs and by Saucony.
I've been wearing Guides for years with pretty consistent performance, but I've only been running in these shoes for 2.5 months at 10-15 miles a week and the sides of the soles are already so worn down it looks like I've been wearing them for a year (terrain hasn't changed for the past few years). Have also had some pretty crazy and persistent knots around the ball/toes in both feet since wearing these which has never happened before, although the shoes themselves are comfortable to wear. I guess there's something different about these than the previous Guide versions. Would still recommend them to someone else, though, if they don't overpronate, assuming that the wear on the soles would be better spread across them.
My first pair of Sauconys but won’t be my last. I overpronate and have overly flexible feet, so stability is a must for me. They’re usually clunky, heavy, and ugly. Not these! They’re ultra light and so comfortable right out of the box. They are soft and pliable all over, so there are zero hard panels to dig into the side or top of your foot. They’re also much sleeker and more flattering than the average stability shoe. Like with any athletic shoe, you should size up at least a half size to accommodate swelling, but the soft walls do allow for more expanding than any other sneaker I’ve tried which makes a big difference in leg fatigue by the end of a workout.
Bought them for retail work. Fabric around the big toe area is way too thin and not durable. Whole in big toe area in both shoes. Got bigger by the week. Cut and filed toe nails from the top, sides and ends to the nubs. Good heel protection for heel runners, heel walkers and hard surfaces. Not good for heel to toe walkers. Not good for narrow feet either. Sliding issues no matter the different ways I laced them or how tight I tie them. Was definitely not worth the price. Had to save up for these. Regrets all around.
I am healing from foot surgery and needed new walking shoes. I bought them as they fit well and were on sale. After wearing them I can say I would recommend them even if they weren’t on sale. The firm sole helped stabilized me. The laces loosen easily to allow room when my foot started to swell. I usually wear a wide width but these are wide enough for me. I do go up a half size in running shoes and hiking boots. I no longer run but hope to get back to logging more walking miles.
I purchased these for my fourth half marathon training. I was an avid brooks runner and decided to try a new stability shoe. I went to my local running shop and had my foot scanned, they recommended this shoe, along with a few others from the competitors. I like the colors, price is comparable, quality is comparable. However these shoes make me feel weighed down, like I have cinder blocks on my feet. I always run in a stability shoe, but these are almost too rigid and heavy. I’ve been using them for 3 months and they still are too rigid. To the point where I have knee and arch pain. Will be going back to my prior shoe. Disappointed because I was really excited to use these shoes.
I have been wearing Saucony's since 2017 when I switched from Asics. I loved them until the 14's. I have never had knee pain running and these shoes caused both my knees to have sharp pain shooting through them, I couldn't even make it 4 miles so I had to return them. I found 13's on clearance through another online retailer and bought those instead. I hope Saucony fixes the Guide 14 cause once these 13's I found on clearance wear out, I'm going to be forced to find a new brand of running shoe:( However, I will give an extra star in my review for all the fun new colors to choose from.
We appreciate your feedback. Thank you!
This is my third pair of Guides now. I have flat feet and run almost every day, and these are great for indoor runs where I don't need maximum cushioning. I order a half-size larger to fit my orthotics and the shoes feel great right out of the box. The Guide 14 seems to have a closer fit around the heel and ankle than the 13, which is nice. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the new laces; they snag on everything and stretch a lot more than I prefer. But overall I love these shoes. They're are also great for walks and casual wear. Please make wide width shoes in more colors and styles!
Thank you for your feedback!
I wanted to love these shoes. I ordered a pair of 7.5 which is my regular size and although they were the right length and width, it felt as if the insole wasn't quite wide enough for the platform of the shoe and my big toe kept falling off the insole on the platform. So I ordered a pair of 8 and the arch placement was wrong for my feet. I returned both pairs. I get pain in my ankles when shoes don't keep them stable and these shoes relieved the pain. I also have pain in my one of my big toes and those shoes were stiff enough to relieve it. So I was really disappointed that the 7.5 pair I got was either defective or had poor design. I would have ordered a new pair but I am still waiting for the refund.
I've had mine for 6 months. Wear them walking. Not as comfortable as I hoped. Big toe area on both shoes has a dark spot and a hole is forming.
