Very good all around
I bought this not knowing if I would do more road, or off-road riding. I put over 1300 miles on it in a year, including road, path, gravel, and a few attempts at mountain biking. Don’t expect to break any speed records on it, but it handled most things, except mountain biking, very well. I did opt to purchase some faster rolling tires (GravelKing slicks), and used them on the majority of my rides. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get started, commuting, or the casual rider. I will add that it handled the carriage roads in Acadia quite nicely.
Nice bike, but with some flaws
I've had this bike for a week. I got this bike to replace an older Trek FX I was using for commuting. I wanted larger tires and a front suspension to soften the ride. The trails I use for commuting are a bit rough. Like one other reviewed noted, I have also gotten multiple flats after a week of ownership, 4 flats within a week. I removed the tire each time and could not find any punctures through tire. Closer inspection on the tube it look to be getting a hole on the rim side. For reference, I've never gotten a flat with my FX on the same route.
Quick LCX4
I bought this bike in April 2023. Comparison shopping produced this as a best buy for me on sale at REI. Previously, I have owned only road bikes, and I am not a bike expert or racer. This is an urban bike which I bought for exercise in the neighborhood. I have a tracker that gives basic stats. Since April I have ridden ~700mi, at 7-10 per day. The fastest I can record on this bike about 30mph. The frame is very solid and light, the brakes and shifters are smooth. The gear ratio is good for me because the bike handles hills very nicely, but it is not a "fast" bike. Also, the front shocks absorb most of the bumps and road repair. I had it back to REI for tightening. They give free maintenance for a year. Maintenance is low. I keep tires inflated, oil the chain and axels, and watch for loosening. That's it. The handlebars are a little low for me, so a different stem is a likely upgrade on my radar. After these four months I am very happy with the bike. I would buy it again. Very good basic ride for exercise.
Happy with my Quick CX 4
Just came back to biking after well over a decade. I only ever owned two bikes as an adult: both hardtail MTBs-a Cannondale F600 in the 1990s and a Specialized Rockhopper that I had until 2014 but hadn’t used in the four years prior. I went with the CX4 mainly due to fond memories of my old Cannondale. I absolutely loved that bike! Over the past month, I've been putting about 30+ mi a week on the roads, mainly for health/exercise, taking her once this past Sat into the So Cal foothills on some single-track with a 2k descent to see how she'd handle. Gotta say that I am extremely happy. Rolls faster on the road than I thought she would, and handled hills well (which are everywhere here). And the Vittoria Terrenos and overall performance/stability/comfort far exceeded my expectations on the single-track…especially since I carry 240lbs. Funny thing is that after reading how some of you got multiple flats within a week or so, I had become a bit nervous that maybe I had made a bad choice in going for the low-end hybrid model, thinking to myself that maybe I should have just jumped back in and went for a higher-end mtb or gravel bike. But right now, best I can put it is that I’m rather enjoying the feeling that I got a bit of a steal.
Wonderful Wheels!
I really love this bike. It is smooth riding, agile, and comfortable. The gears shift effortlessly, and I am so happy with my choice. I anticipate many years of gliding smoothly over backroads and paved trails with my beautiful Cannondale.
Get one yourself
Excellent bike for the money. Cannondale quality at a price that doesn't break the bank. Quality components from a known manufacturer. Mostly basic tools needed for maintenence. Store service was top notch.
Excellent bike for commute
My wife bought it for my commute a couple of weeks ago. It has been a great experience with this bike. I first fall in love with the design and then I am also satisfied with the function of the bike. I highly recommend it.
Good first city/trail bike
Super nice beginner/inter bike! The shifter for the front deraileur can be a bit tricky to find the sweet spot for but once you got it, it's a really smooth ride. I will add, you have to go to the store and get it fitted for you. The seat is not the most comfortable when you're doing 20+ mile rides so adjusting everything you can to fit you is super important.
Rides beautifully, but isn't worth it.
I really wanted to love this bike, but as a prior reviewer noted, it falls short. I purchased it three weeks ago. Since then, the front tire has gone fully flat four times - while on the road. A bit inconvenient when you're miles from the nearest bus stop, and a bit dangerous, too! Each time when in for repair, the techs didn't seem to know why the flats were occurring. I've ridden only on pavement and rail trails,.so no heavy duty usage or wear-and-tear to cause it. Otherwise, it does ride beautifully, however. A pity.
expected a lot better
first long ride got a thorn caused flat. the ties are paper thin. bought some Kevlar belted tires for $127. next time out rear derailleur broke bending chain and wheel.$160 to replace chain and derailleur and straighten wheel. now disk brakes squeal big disappointment
