Bought it during REI July 4th sale, so I am very happy with the REI price. Gave it 4 stars because of 1) the hand grips are really cheap and uncomfortable. Noticed this immediately during test ride and needed to pay $35 for upgraded ergonomic German grips. Interesting because the REI Co-op hybrid bikes have very similar ergonomic grips. 2) Needed to purchase a Cannondale kick stand, which I feel should have been included with bike. 3) The phone attachment was not in the Cannondale box, but REI is ordering me one at no charge. Besides those 3 issues, gear shifting is quick and solid. Tire tread and size very good. It could also use a 9th or 10th gear, but for the price, 8 gears will do (the next models up have 9 and 10 gears). Frame feels solid and well balanced. Excellent brakes. Lightweight carbon front fork was a surprise at this entry price level. Also has knob on front shocks to disengage suspension. REI staff recommended turning it off when riding on flat smooth surfaces. Other reviewers complained about seat comfort, but it seemed to be ok for me during test ride. In the future I might purchase a wider gel seat if it becomes an issue. All in all, I'm happy with bike, especially at the REI sale price.
Great value for the money. Good quality components. Light, responsive and tight ride.
Bought this bike a month ago and put 100 miles. The bike itself is a great starter bike and value for $ in terms of the quality of materials and specs. Highly recommend it! REI did a great job putting the bike together!
I purchased the Cannondale Quick CX 3 to replace my Giant Talon 4 mountain bike that I've been riding for 10 years. The Quick 3 is a perfect lateral move to give me a similar feel and fit as a mountain bike, but a better fit for Florida after moving here from the mountains of North Carolina. I no longer need the mountain gearing so the 8-speed rear derailleur with a simple fixed front sprocket makes sense for paved and gravel surfaces. And there are no mountains here! I wanted lighter weight and a faster ride, and this delivers. I like the hydraulic brakes and the front suspension as well. A note about sizing: many reviews suggested that the Quick models size on the large size. I'm 5'7" and I was advised I'd be better with the small size. I test rode the small and immediately chose the medium instead. The takeaway is try before you buy!
So far, I am loving my Cannondale Bike. I have put it on the road several times in the last month, and the performance has been outstanding. I love the shifting, and the power of this bike.
The bike is good, but Cannondale removed the wheel sensor from the Quick CX3. That is a disappointment.
This bike has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, the suspension ruins it in my opinion. I have had this bike for a year, and I regret not doing more research before buying it. It is not lightweight and often feels sluggish when pedaling. It's likely the extra weight of the suspension, but the fork size is too specific to match anything lighter. The gear shifting is not seamless and feels cheap. The tires are also a bit large for what's supposed to be a lightweight bike. Sadly, you have to be a member to get the year return, so it seems I am stuck since it is past the return date. Do your research and consider EVERY part that makes this bike, so you are not spending more swapping parts.
I got this bike at the 4th of July sale. It’s been great so far! After buying it, I rode it 21 miles home, so I have a good sense for how it works. It’s a solid frame and handles great on gravel and paved trails. Cons: the seat is not too comfortable and the grips are a little funny. I also think my bike might be skipping a gear but expect that is fixable. Would definitely recommend checking this out.
This was the first bike I bought. I didn’t know much about bikes or the different types. I didn’t wanted one bike just for one purpose. I wanted to explore the city, commute to work and also go on mountain trails. This bike is great for all that. I fell in love with cycling with it. Highly recommend.
Great bike, fun to ride and easy shifting gears. The REI bike employee are knowledgeable and friendly. Spot on with adjustments.
