How we measure bikes
- Standover Height Standover Height is a measurement from the ground to the top of the top tube, measured at the midpoint of the top tube.
- Reach Reach is the horizontal distance from the center of the cranks to the center of the head tube, measured at head tube level.
- Stack Stack is the vertical distance from the center of the cranks to the center of the head tube, measured to the top of the head tube.
- Effective Top Tube Effective top tube is the distance from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube/seat post, measured parallel to the ground.
- Seat Tube Center to Top Seat Tube length is the measurement of the seat tube, from the center of the cranks to the top of the seat tube.
- Head Tube Length Head Tube Length is measured from the bottom to the top of the head tube.
- Head Tube Angle Head Tube Angle is the acute angle between the head tube and the ground (measured towards the rear of the bike)
- Seat Tube Angle Seat Tube Angle is the acute angle between the seat tube and the ground (measured towards the rear of the bike).
- Bottom Bracket Height Bottom Bracket Height is a measurement taken vertically from the ground up to the center of the cranks.
- Wheelbase Wheelbase is the measurement from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle.
- Chainstay Length Chainstay Length is the measurement from the center of the cranks to the center of the rear axle.
- Fork Offset Fork Offset, or rake, is the distance from the front axle to a line drawn parallel to the center of the head tube or steering axis.

Lives up the allroad adventure name!
On nearly every level, the Cannondale Adventure Neo Allroad Speed electric bike is terrific and an absolute steal right now. For perspective, I am an advanced mountain biker and gravel rider who also happens to love bike commuting. The Allroad was an upgrade from the REI Coop Gen e 1.2 I have commuted on for years now which I have loved, but I wanted something a tad more comfy on rougher roads for the commute. The geometry, suspension, touch points (handle grips, seat and pedals), fenders and wheel/tire combination are all confidence inspiring and allow me to ride this bike hard on my commute. My commute route isn’t all on paved road so the Allroad parts of this bike were critical for me. The shifts are crisp and the brakes, once bedded, are solid. The electrical/battery pieces of this bike are for the most part great, too. The battery propels you forward quickly without that much effort, although I find I live in the harder gears most of the time so I can keep the power up and not spin out. The assistance levels are clustered as follows: L1: up to 15 mph, L2/L3 20mph (why even have a 3rd level?), L4 25mph and lastly, L5 28mph. The Bafang motor wants to get you there and do so quickly, so smooth assistance delivery isn’t really the name of the game here. Now for my areas of disappointment: I am not getting anywhere near 71 mile stated assist level, I have put 40+ miles on this bike and already charged it once. My projection is probably 45-48 miles per charge which isn’t horrible, it’s just not as advertised. That said a few notes to consider, I am heavier rider, I bring all of my water/coffee/lunch for the day, I use mainly assistance level 2 most of the time with a few sprints at 28mph on main roads over a 12 mile commute, so perhaps its just my weight and riding style. I hope someone from REI will reach out if this shouldn’t be the case, though. The only true disappointment is the front light, man that thing is lame. The light projects a 6x4 dot of light like 20 feet ahead of me, so I take my mountain biking light to assist and fill out the illumination pattern between me and the dot. Not huge, but not great for those of us riding before the sun comes up. All that said, if you are in the market for a class 3 e-bike that lives up to the allroad adventure part of the name, this high quality Cannondale definitely delivers and I can easily recommend it (and have done).
