Industry-leading features and awesome style
I bought this HH Powchaser jacket to replace a Patagonia one. I’m super impressed with the features and quality. Everything an alpine skier needs and more. The fit is long in the arms and torso, especially the arms, which I really appreciate and is where other jacket manufacturers fall short. I’m a size 12 and the large fit beautifully, but…not the room I prefer in the shoulders if I need extra layers beneath. (I have wide, muscular shoulders). So, I went with the XL for versatility in layering. The camo pattern is pretty and the color is a beautiful dusty rose. I wore this jacket on a cold, windy day and it’s warm. As the snow hasn’t fallen yet, no wear on the mountain yet. But I’m super stoked to own such a gorgeous and functional jacket.
Runs small in shoulders
The construction seems good and the grape camp is a fun color. That said, the shoulders/armpits run a bit tight and there’s not much room for layering without starting the feel constricted. I’m athletic and am usually a small/medium. I think if I went up a size it might be too large in the body. It’s super lightweight though so I’m going to give it a shot and see how warm it is with non-bulky layers underneath.
Not sure how I feel about it
Haven't tested it outside yet and will update when I get on the mountain, if I don't return it. I am a larger gal and bought the XL. The fit is decent though the sleeves are a bit long. There's additional room for thin layering, but not much before it starts to look bulky and feel restricted. If it did come in an XXL (which it doesn't), I'm pretty sure I'd be swamped in it, especiallythe sleeves . The powder skirt is not removable and there are no thumb holes in the wrist gators as described in the features which is pretty disappointing. I am nervous about its waterproofing/resistance. I live/shred in southeast Alaska, it's really wet here, and I'm not convinced the material will hold up to the wet weather/snow we get here (though I don't intend to wear it in a downpour). All that being said, there's lots of pockets and cool features. The colors are great and I love the wider neck and hood.
Great jacket
I just received this jacket and I love the way it looks. However, I thought the color was going to be off-whites and greys with orange accents. It’s actually shades of purples with coral accents. I wish the photos better represented the actual color. Saying this, I still like it and can’t wait to use it this winter.
Staying warm in Syracuse
Insanely warm; lightweight and long enough to provide great coverage. Seems very well made. Lots of pockets. So far this is by far the best winter outdoor activity coat I've had. I got it on discount sale, which made it more affordable.
disappointed
Runs small. Ended up returning to size up, and then the sleeves were extremely too long. Disappointed in size inclusivity and accuracy of some brands these days.
Light and warm
Love the colors. It’s warm and light and has a lot of pockets for skiing
