Good Fuel Canister, Good Price

I used Kovea butane fuel canisters on a 4-day outing at 4500' cooking for two with a new Gas One GS-4000P dual fuel 12,000 BTU stove. A full canister lasted for four meals consisting of large 1-pot main course dinners, scrambled egg breakfasts, and hot water for drinks and cleanup. The stove's operation was flawless throughout the life of the first can for both high output and excellent simmer. The simmer output dropped off just slightly for the fourth meal and prompted me to check the can after shutting down to find it was essentially empty. The blue stripe on the rim signifying it has a CRV approved (Countersink Release Vent) is a safety feature I wanted. Finally, the price for one canister is less than what a large mail order company is charging per can for bulk canisters; some of which are apparently not CRV approved!

Works a little better than Coleman canister

I use this with a Coleman butane stove. Seems to work a little better than the Coleman canisters and will work when its a few degrees colder.

Cold weather use

This fuel will work at 10F with a canister stove that can be inverted in liquid feed mode. My personal stove for its use is a MSR Wind Pro 2. Please note you will need a converter to connect a canister stove to this butane canister.

butane and propane

Note that this is a mix of butane and propane and not 100% butane. Butane at 100% works much, much better on my camp stove (Burton); this mix was less efficient.

No fuss, easy to use

Easy and quick to pop-in and start cooking. (Supply has been a bit scarce. Certainly hope REI keeps it in stock in the future.)

Good quality, does its job well!

These have worked flawlessly with my camping stove. I don’t have too much to say about these. A product like this is a bit “boring”. It works…does its job well…and has no cons that I can think of. I have no reason to not recommend this to anybody looking for a good quality fuel canister.
