Great bag! I’m a side sleeper/tosser/turner. This bag is specifically designed for such sleeper. We stayed in the smokies in 19 degree weather. I was nice and toasty in this bag with just 1 layer of cloths.
I bought this bag in January for camping in Zion and backpacking in the Grand Canyon and wow did it hold up! With snow still on the ground, I was cozy in the 15-30°f range. I even had to shed some layers around 30°. The bag is extra roomy compared to my old north face mummy bag. I’m a side sleeper myself and there was plenty of wiggle room. My favorite part is how small it can be packed. It came in handy on a two day backpacking trip down the Grand Canyon. It clocks in at about 2 1/2 lbs so I wouldn’t say this is ultralight but for the comfort and temp rating, it’s worth it if you need a cold weather bag.
This is a great little bag that packs small but is nice and roomy. I have tested it and it seems to be comfortable in temperatures up to 60 degrees F for me at least (It hasn't been cold enough here for me to test the lower limit). It might not make the best summer bag because it gets a little warm in higher temps. Overall the construction seems solid, and the built-in pillow pocket is a plus. My only complaint would be that the hood doesn't have a drawstring (its built into the blanket fold instead) this is annoying when its breezy and the wind is right in my face. Overall, it's worth the investment to me and I look forward to using it in the UP.
took the bag out for the first time to the ozark mountains in missouri. the weather was rainy to misty to windy. highs in the low 50s. lows in the low 30s. I have never owned a down bag because of the wet conditions I normally backpack and canoe in. this was definitely a test for the newer materials like the treated down and water resistant shells. sleeping in just shorts and t shirt it was extremely warm. I opened the therma gills and didn't cinch the hood. still I was warm until sometime in the morning. the bag is very roomy. I realized why they call it a spoon design. two people could fit in this bag. I like the closed in feeling of a mummy bag but the roominess of this bag was very comfortable. it was more like in home with a blanket than a cocoon. can't wait to test this bag with temps in the low 20s. the blanket fold seems like a nice feature however when the temps are warm it is hard to keep it out of the way. everything on this bag is quality down to the anti snag zipper design. I always have problems snagging the zipper in the middle of the night but don't see it being a problem on this bag.
As some reviews may have pointed out, the Disco 15 probably won't keep you warm down to 15F but testing it out in the California Sierras mid-September at 7000-10,000ft elevation this year (~40-50F lows), it was warm and cozy. The wider design was incredibly roomy and at times, I did notice some cold pockets due to the empty spaces. However, as a mostly side sleeper, the extra room was greatly appreciated and the main factor in getting this bag over my current synthetic mummy bag. My main gripe was that packing this bag up in its default NEMO stuffsack was quite difficult and became a bit cumbersome each morning on the trail. Definitely a bag built for comfort over packability and weight!
I absolutely love this bag. Hesitated a bit on purchase until the recent price drop, then I jumped all over it! I am so happy that I purchased this bag. Completely toasty in the bag at 25 degrees Fahrenheit. I can't wait to put it to a longer test (hopefully the JMT next summer). Compresses great into the included compression sack and then fits into a 12 liter Osprey Dry Sack. I lay this on my REI camp bed, which I also highly recommend. Maybe a bit large for backpacking, but my sleep is one thing that I will not sacrifice!
This product is extremely warm, soft and plushy, comfortable and coddling, and is packed with great innovative features. - A shoulder pocket to keep batteries and small items warm and secure. - Therma-gills that allow you to ventilate the bag like a quilt. - A plushy hood that provides comfort and warmth around your head/face. - A designated sleeve in the hood for your Nemo Fillo Pillow that adds a nice luxurious touch. - Water-resistant foot box. - An extremely soft and plush draft collar/face shield that you can cover your face in very windy or cold environments, or tuck in to keep your body warmth in the bag and act as a soft warm thing to cuddle.
As I write this I've slept in this bag about 15 nights. Keep in mind the temperature ratings! The 15 degree is not the comfort rating. The comfort rating for this bag is 25 f. For me even with a liner I am cold at 25 in this bag. This is with an excellent pad. I am a cold sleeper so you might be just fine. For me this is my 30 degree comfort bag. This is very well made and I have no regrets purchasing it. (I'll be getting a 0 degree quilt for colder temps). For backpacking it is about 13 ounces heavier than my desired target weight but for short hikes and car camping it is great!
Took some time to spring for $300 to get this sleeping bag… I finally did it and it’s as great as I’d hoped it would be! I’ve taken this on the last two camp outs and temps have dipped into mid to upper 20’s in Adirondack shelter’s. So far, I’m loving this sleeping bag!
I had been contemplating this bag for sometime now. I loved that it was designed for side sleepers but worried cause most sleeping bags I've tried were just too small for me (and I get a bit closterphobic when I sleep lol) so I worried this would be too, and I'd be out $325. I mean, I'm by no means a small guy. I'm 6'3" 285lbs and this sleeping bag is totally awesome! Laid in it and there's so much room! The roomy footbox was great. Even when I lay on my side it feels like a blanket more than a sleeping bag and it didn't get all twisted up when I turned. Totally warm and comfy inside. It packs down nice and small, very light weight (haven't weighed it yet but I'll update on that). I plan on testing it this weekend in the Rockies were it'll probably be in the 30s. I'll give an update, but so far, totally recommend!!
