Perfect for fat biking!
These are wonderful winter biking pants. They fit very well and do a great job blocking wind and providing extra warmth and comfort. I wear them with the 45NRTH cycling bibs and jacket and they are a great combination. I like the length of the pants in that they can fit on the boot or just above the boot for no binding / pressure points. The fabric choices are excellent. I seem to find a way to rub up against a lot of branches and brush while riding winter singletrack and these hold up perfectly without catching on anything. While these are relatively expensive, the entire 45NRTH package of bibs, jacket and pants are an unbeatable combination for winter riding and well worth the investment. The construction is excellent and I expect to get a lot of years of use out of them. You will love these!
not good quality
Fit is okay and fairly comfortable. Problem is quality. First pair the stitching connecting the Velcro adjusting straps started to come undone. Delay directly with 45nrth customer service, which was very good. They sent me another pair immediately but now after only 3 rides the stitching in the crotch is coming undone. Sent another email to 45nrth, so we’ll see how they want to handle this.
naughtvind: “high five”
purchased these for fatbiking, but also using for cross country skiing. sizing was a bitnif a concern, so ordered the xl and it is an okay fit…a bit longer in the legs and a bit tighter in the waist, but they are great for jaunts on the bike. first ride was in -3° F and i was toasty, with good motion and no restrictions.
Gorgeous garment, pairs perfectly with bibs
I have the bibs in a small, but the small pants are too snug to wear over them. However, I am an athletic woman with curves, so perhaps different for slender males/females.
Very Durable but 200$?
I bought these to be a mainstay in my winter commuting set up. I bike to commute every day about 16 miles total through city streets and wanted something other than just rain pants with layers to keep me warm on cold days. At first I felt a bit underwhelmed and I had feelings about spending 200$ on a pair of pants only for cycling. I have no problem with investing in gear but I had stuff that worked need to be discerning where I invest. For my commuting I had stuff that was ok but wanted a significant upgrade in comfort. My biggest problem is the waist adjustments which can stick above the pant and rub against your body. Though, if you just tuck in your shirt/base layer this isn't really a problem. Also, I noticed when opening the legs vents while the magnets were cool it seemed that they would not hold and eventually flap around while riding. These also were strange because they don't seal from the top - meaning that water could seep in, especially if it were snowing and then melted. Otherwise at first I thought these were totally fine but I felt I spent a bit too much money. It's been three months now and I have used them most days under 50 degrees. I REALLY love the versatility of these pants. With proper layering my lower body stays very warm on coldest days. When it's a bit warmer I'll wear a pair of basketball shorts and they're really comfortable but help block wind and prevent me from getting a chill. The ankle cuff can be tightened to prevent any rub on my chain ring and the interior of the pant is very tough. The vents problem I mentioned above is interesting, if you are walking around with them open they will flap but don't really seem to flap when riding. The venting is enough to keep you cool if you get a tad warm, but these aren't really meant for anything warmer than around 50 degrees. Two things that are very note worthy for me. In all those months I rode in some bad conditions where the streets were snow covered and salt had been spread. The pants still look brand new - like off the rack! Also I tripped walking into work one day and fell on both knees right onto rough concrete. I got skinned knees but there are no scuffs on the pants. I'm a PE teacher and have even worn the pants during the work day. They were really comfortable and look good enough for my job. My only complaint is that these pants were expensive. I'd like to spend around 150$ on a pant like this but for all the use I've gotten out of them and the upgrade in comfort/functionality I think my purchase has been worth it.
