Not what they used to be...

I was a little disappointed in the quality of material used to make this jacket. My dad has the ghost whisperer 800 fill from 2015 and I've used it quite a bit because it was very comfortable, warm, packable, and it looked great. I decided to buy one of my own, but they've changed lots over 5 years. It is described as a rock climbing, mountaneering, backpacking, and hiking down jacket, but on both my backpacking trip and rock climbing experience, the jacket had visual abrasions from very minimal friction. I'm bummed because my dad's jacket held up incredible to the same activity and never displayed these signs of wear. It also came packed with less down than my dad's jacket. I'm looking into getting a more durable down jacket, I don't feel comfortable using the ghost whisperer 2 for backpacking and climbing anymore. Not everything about the jacket was bad. It was very wind resistant and once you get moving you heat up very quick. It's super packable and the stow pocket is one of my favorite things. It looks great wearing out casually. This was my personal experience, I'm not sure if anyone can relate.

Perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ran this up four 14ers within a week of receiving it. Temps ranging from 19 degrees to about 40, some periods of high winds and blowing snow scouring my face - jacket was a perfect outer layer that kept me warm and was easily regulated by venting with the zipper. I was worried that being so light it might also tear if looked at the wrong way, but I actually took a good spill on some talus. I have a bruise and a scab on my elbow, but the jacket itself did not rip and does not show any sign of damage. Obscenely expensive at regular price, got it on the 70% off sale and am super pleased. Medium fits perfectly, even over workout shirt and knit shirt under it - 6'1", 190lb

Perfect Jacket

I have a lot of jackets and I've the Ghost Whisperer has been my favorite by far. It's lightweight, packable and performs! I've hiked, camped and slept in it a lot and haven't noticed any wear or decrease in performance. I also wear it work on a cold day cause it fits me perferctly. I have a large and I'm 6' 1" and 190 and it fits perfect.

Kind of deception

I'm a regular NorthFace customer, though I saw the MHW Ghost Whisper and felt in love. I've tried at a near place called AnyMoutain and the fit was perfect however I wanted the Orange Zipper. I decide to pay a bit more and buy from you guys, after wait a while because there wasn't available in stock, I finally made my purchase, but when it arrive was a deception as it seems to be a bit bigger than the one I've tried before. I didn't find the time to go back to the store and check they still have the one I fell in love in the first place. But it seems the model came different then the one I've tried. Maybe you change supplier or something ...

Must have jacket!

Love the Ghost Whisperer 2. It’s a thin light weight jacket where I can use on evenings and mornings where there slight crisp in air. I also wear even in warmer temps just because it’s cozy when wearing just a t-shirt. Definitely, a delicate material to be aware of outdoor surroundings. Only reason why I took off a start is because of the sizing has me in between a MD and L. I am 6’2” 185# and waist 32”. Medium is ideal fit, yet shoulders are slightly tight when I cross my arms. This size is better than when wearing Large, tho. Large is too long in sleeves and too blousy. This is my third Whisperer not because they fall apart, but because I like having multiple colors due to wanting to wear it so much. Must have jacket!

Fit runs small IMO

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this jacket however it runs pretty small. not designed for heavyset people. I am 5'8" 230 lbs. Unfortunately most of this weight is in my midsection (gut). For reference I wear a size 36/30 pants. I had to get an XL jacket in order to fit my waist and shoulders but the arms are pretty long. I originally ordered a large and it fit in the shoulders, the arms were just a tad long, nothing I couldn't live with but it was too small in the waist. The XL is what I will have to live with. Just as an FYI, I have tried other brands similar to this one and I have had the same problem. I purchased this on sale and would not recommend this at full price.

False advertising

The structure and function of the jacket was on point! I was surprised at how lightweight it was when I pulled it out of the package, as well as how well it fit me (5'10", 170 lbs, slim athletic). Additionally, it was cozy and warm! Unfortunately, the colour in the photos on the site do not match the colour of the jacket in real life. I had to return it, hoping that a more appealing colour presents itself in the future for a buy. The photos look more like a yellowish-orange, but the actual colour you receive is more of a greenish brown. I can see how it may be considered "gold," but to me and my wife, it reminded us of vomit. Choose wisely.

Perfect mid layer for skiing or warm jacket for traveling

Got this jacket as a midlayer for sking really really cold days as well as an all around jacket to travel with. When it's below 20º, this jacket performs at its finest on the resort. It is very very warm, and down isn't the most breathable insulator, so I really only use it when it on teen digit days. On the traveling side, this jacket is incredible. Again, very warm; but also lightweight and very packable. The previous jacket I had was a NF Thermoball which packed down, but to twice the size. I usually travel with one backpack, so every inch of space matters. Stowing it in its own pocket is very convenient a well. Highly recommend.

Sizing is way off so I returned the Ghost Whisperer

It's hard to rate an item that I didn't have a chance to use but here goes. I'm 5'11" 210lbs Athletic build and wear a 46 Regular sports coat and XL jackets from Arc'Teryx , Patagonia and other Mountain Hardware items. This jacket is cut big in the chest , torso and worst of all the arms are so long they went past my finger tips. I wear a 34-35 length sleeve so XL should have been fine. I hope this review saves someone the time and shipping cost I wasted giving this jacket a shot. The one quality flaw I noticed is that the tiny zipper is inadequate and I struggled to zip and unzip the jacket just trying it on so I know that's most likely going to fail.

Wierd Cut, Crazy Light

I'm 5'9" and 185 lbs. Apparently this is cut for a modern outdoor enthusiast with a large beer belly. The large is a bit too large for me - it is very baggy in the stomache. The medium is perfect in the stomache but too small in the chest. As for warmth, it does a descent job. It's very comfy if used as a insulating layer under a shell. By itself, it kept me mostly warm in 40 degree weather. The thing about this jacket that is spectacular is the warmth per weight. It is sooo light that any of the other shortcomings fade away when you pick it up and wonder at the engineering of this jacket. Despite the baffling cut of the product, I'd still buy again.
