Stretchy, warm, featured!

I work as a rock climbing guide on the Front Range and I need warm layers when I'm being active at high elevations. This thing is definitely warm. The 700-fill down does its job to insulate well and still be super, super light. I also really like that I can use this as a semi-active layer because it really does move and fit with my body. I'm used to down jackets being a stopped-and-snacking layer, so this is a welcome change. I think this piece is perfect for someone who plans to spend time up high (10,000+) and wants to move/skin/be active in this layer. It also looks great, so it can function as an around-town jacket, too! I'm 5'10" and 170 - the medium fit me perfectly.

One of my favorite jackets I own

I’ve had this jacket for about a year - bought it because my wife got one and I was jealous… I love everything about it. Fit is slim, not too baggy so keeps heat in (I’m 5’11, 180, size M). Pockets have the puffy material on the outside of your hands so it brings body warmth to those pockets which is awesome. Stretch is great. I have no problems with it after a year of use hiking, skiing, camping, etc. I’ve contemplated buying another in case they stop making it I saw some comments about the filler balling up after washing. I had the same freak out moment when I first washed it but all you do it tumble try with a couple of tennis balls and it fluffs right back up. Love this jacket! Highly recommend!

Durable, warm, and love the stretch

I'm 5'8" 160 and ordered a small. In everything else Mountain Hardwear makes I wear a medium, but their down jackets are a little baggy so the small fits great, especially with the stretch. I split my time between the mountains and the office, and this jacket has performed well in both arenas. When guiding, its a great basecamp jacket for where I live in the Appalachian mountains, but is a little heavy to take up any big climbs. I was skeptical about how good the stretch would be, but it is fantastic. I like that it fits close to the body with a midlayer on underneath but moves so well with me. I'm also a big fan of the "finer things" this jacket offers. The brushed shell is nicer and way more durable than its ultralight competitors and the pockets are very cozy.

Super comfortable and stretchy!

Growing up and living in Salt Lake City, Utah I have always loved being in the mountains year round whether I’m hiking, climbing or skiing. However it has always been a hassle to find quality clothing that keeps you warm without sacrificing movement ability. This jacket does both of these extremely well (I should mention it looks great too). I would not hesitate to buy this again, although with how well it’s built I don’t think I’ll have to anytime soon (unless I'm buying it as a gift).

A Versatile Cold Weather Jacket

I am a search and rescue volunteer and climbing wall instructor who spends my time in Arizona and Washington state. Working in a wide range of environmental conditions requires that my gear does the same. I ordered the Stretchdown hoody as large, my usual size, and found it fit true to size while leaving ample room for base layers underneath. I have taken a fancy to the jacket’s stretch-woven fabric. It provides good range of motion and seems to be one of the tougher fabrics I have had in a down jacket. The adjustable hood with a front cinch also fits me well with or without a helmet! I don’t always like the front cinch hoods on down jackets but have really enjoyed the hood on the Stretchdown hoody. This is a great layer for a wide range of cold weather activities and I am excited to continue using it throughout the winter!

Great weight to comfort ratio for undexpected chills in the high desert.

Simply the best jacket. Super light weight, I never have to worry about sacrificing weight for comfort. I just throw it in my bag now and don't even think about it. It washes quite well too, as I run it through the ringer at work and camping. The down has not had a problem after about 45 washes with wool balls on regular temps. It's not water proof, but for light rains I have not had to throw on a rain jacket and have not felt that it was damp after.

Awesome form fitting down

I am 5’11”, 180 lbs with long arms and an athletic build, and Mountain Hardware is one of the only brands with sleeves that are long enough for me to wear a medium. This jacket is a little tight in the chest, but should be fine with the stretchy material. It is warm and seemingly well made. I like the slim fit because it’s not bulky and doesn’t get caught up and snagged on branches etc. the way baggy jackets can and I can wear it underneath a shell.

Weight is wrong in the description

I purchased this for sheep hunting. When I got it in the mail it felt way heavier and bulkier than advertised. It's about double the advertised weight. They claim 9.3oz but it is closer to 18oz. That's a pretty significant difference and "approximately" doesn't seem to be used in good faith on this one. I overall think very highly of Mountain Hardware products. I have used and trusted many of their products for military deployments, mountaineering, sheep hunting, climbing Denali etc. If they put the correct specs in the description I wouldn't have purchased it. It appears to be made well but would be better suited for beers at the bon fire after the adventure than during it. I still gave it three stars because it is well made and sturdy. I just wouldn't use it for anything that requires me carrying it in a backpack for more than a day.

Great Down Jacket!

I am a rock climbing Guide in Moab who spends their time between the desert and the Colorado Rockies. A down jacket is a must have, especially during these freeze or fry temps. I have had a strechdown jacket before and loved it but it was a bit too big so I decided to get a Large this time around. I am 6'2" 225lbs with a positive ape index and the large fits exactly how I want it to fit: closer to the body without excess torso room. However, the sleeves fit great but could not be any shorter. I am a big fan of the insulation being Blue Sign approved and that the chest zippered pocket has an extra large opening that way you can stick whatever you want in there. The cuffs also have a nice touch to them: essentially they are folded over in a way that there is no rough fabric at the cuff. This jacket is great for anyone who needs a down jacket, really. You won't be disappointed!
