Banger of a bike light

I've ridden a ton with this light and it's a beast. Bright, good variety of modes, and has held up in rain and mud. If they made an identical one with a white light I'd own it.

Short lifespan

Positives: One of the few rear lights that are actually bright enough to be of use in daylight. Easy to install/remove. I have purchased three. Negatives: After one year, the battery life is horribly shortened, especially in the cold. On flashing mode on a 50 degree day, my freshly fully charged unit will not last more than 90 minutes. Wintertime rides, with shorter days and harsh low-angle sun, are when a product like this is an important safety feature. Alas, this unit is not reliable after one year. $65 a year for more electronic waste in the landfill.

So much light from such a small package.

First night of using these lights and they are pretty amazing. I can't get over how much light they produce and how small the unit is. Visibility will no longer be an issue with two of these on the back of my recumbent. One note that makes these extra awesome. They have a place for a 1/4 20 screw in the back of the seat post mount. You can remove the rubber that would normally wrap around the seat post and screw it right to things. As a recumbent rider, I'm used to modifying things to work on my bike. With these, I was able to attach them directly to stuff. They are still removable for charging as the mount is what gets attached. Just a beautiful device.

Outstanding

My wife and I both use this rear light on our long-distance touring bikes. The hard-mount portion can be popped out of the rubber strap and screwed directly onto a rack or fender. We did exactly that and used a stainless steel lock washer to set the upright positioning correctly. We love these lights because they're compact, light weight, very bright, rain tolerant, cold tolerant, fast charging, and last all day. In fact, we've not yet run the battery dead, and we commonly ride from early morning to dusk and sometimes into night. Additionally, we've used these lights in heavy rain and temperatures of 30°F, to 100°F and they've never failed or fell short. They have been 100% reliable thus far.

Great light.

I am big on tail lights for a bike. All of my bikes have at least one. I am always on the look out for a better brighter tail light for my bike. The reason? One of my major goals in life is to not be rundown by a driver that did not see me. My new Trek bike came with a bracket that mounts this light directly to the top of the seat post right under the seat where it almost can't be seen until it is turned on. Then everyone see it. A very clean installation. So this light is small, insanely bright, rechargeable and integrates right onto my bike. What's not to like?

So Disappointing!

This is a great light when it works but they haven't lasted to offset the $60 each price. To me this light is too expensive to replace every year. The first two just quit within a year of steady riding. I have bought 3 in the three years since I have had my Emonda. On the third Flare RT the usb port connector unit totally collasped inside the light as I was sliding the recharging wire into place and wouldn't make contact to charge. For now I will stick with my 16 dollar Flare rear light with my AAA batteries. Bontrager needs to stand by this light with a two year guarantee but since people keep buying them its never going to happen.

Great light minus known battery indicator issue

Light is great, compact yet effective. The only issue I have with it is there seems to be a known issue regarding the battery LED indicator. The indicator stays at red, even after charging the unit for more hours than what is described in the manual (aka it should be fully charged). There is a workaround which is to reset the unit, once reset then it finally displays the correct green indicator. If you're using Garmin, this means the battery will always display as low on your GPS even when fully charged, unless you reset it. There are multiple threads about this on Garmin and Reddit communities.

High quality and visibility!

Most importantly, this light is highly visible, which is important to me when I’m sharing the road with cars and trucks. Several flash patterns to choose from to best match conditions. Easy to mount and dismount to my helmet. Easy to charge and I’ve never run out of battery on my up to three hour rides.

Great light , but lasted little for than a year

Bought it on April 2020- Awesome light while it lasts. NOT water proof. I never ride in the rain. Last week (7/1/21) made the very mistake - Went for a ride with drenching rain. Came to the car and the light won't turn off. So I let the battery die out. That's it . Won't charge and or be on . So if you want to spend $50 a year every year and avoid rain - go for it. Both REI and Trek/Bontrage only provided 1-year warranty support for lights!
