great hat; bring back the other colors!

My two kids have each been wearing this hat for three years and I have nothing but good things to say. The adjustable cinch around the crown is handy, and the adjustable chin strap has been terrific in windy situations (e.g. boats). My only complaint is that Outdoor Research seems to often discontinue colors. My daughter has been wearing the color "Crocus" (pink) and my son "Diablo" (orange), but no similar bright colors are currently available. I especially liked the orange hat for my son, because it made it much easier to spot him on the playground or in a crowd. So I hope they bring these types of colors back.

Great sun and rain protection for children

We are long-time fans of wearing full brim hats primarily for sun protection on our face, ears, and necks...but we were having a tough time to get our children (ages 3 and 5) to wear brimmed hats. The Helios sun hat (one in pink and one in blue) were an instant success and they are now part of the children's basic kit that goes everywhere with us. The string loop is way too long, but it is easily adjustable because OR was thoughtful enough to keep one end of the string attached with a knot instead of sewing it directly into the hat. We used the measurements in the sizing guide and found it to be pretty accurate. If I could offer a suggestion it would be to make it a little more breathable. To beat the heat we soak our hats down with water and that has worked really well.

Does the job today and tomorrow

I bought this for my 9 month old to wear when we are outside. The drawstring adjustment let me cinch it down to the correct size for my infants head and will allow it to adjust as he grows. I tried it on my 5 year-old nephew and it fit him too. The breakaway chin strap gives me peace of mind knowing that if it gets caught on something my son will be safe. Additionally, the hat is breathable and my son did not sweat a lot while wearing it. The brim offers more than enough face and neck protection.

Best hats ever - buy it

This is the best kids sun hat ever. Kids love it, its light, it protects them from the sun, it adjusts, they can swim it in, it keeps it shape, its breathable, it lasts for years. Our kids have had theirs for years and have used them extensively in hot tropical sun, both on land and while swimming. Even when soaking wet in the pool, it keeps it shape and the kids keep them. If you want to protect your kids from harmful sun exposure, this product is what you need.

Perfect!

Absolutely love this hat for my toddler. It need him shaded and he enjoys wearing it as he never takes it off. We got the size small for our 22 month old and it fits perfect. It's adjustable so he still has room in it to grow as well. The chin strap keeps it on. If you need a Sunhat for your toddler buy this one!

If you have a kid who goes outside, buy this hat

My son has LIVED in his two Helios hats. If you have a kid who likes to be outside, this will be the best investment you make! It provides a TON of sun protection and manages to stay on with an incredibly active kid. I can't recommend this product enough.

My 2 y.o. loves it!

Though WAY too large for him, my son loves this hat. The adjustment is such that it will fit even the smallest noggins. (Size medium)

Awesome hat for a kid.

Great hat; keeps the sun off the face and neck. The only drawback is that my 2yo doesn't like to wear hats...
