Rated 5 out of 5 by from The tank tracks on my feet. I have used many trail runners of all brands and found ones that I love until now I had looked at the peregrines for a while and decided to give them a try. Wow am I pleases they are super light weight and the side construction is great I iseually have problems blowing the side of my shoes out but not with these. I r done a lot of mud and icey terrain hiking/ running in these and they do not slip the tread are the most aggressive I've seen on a trail runner. The laces have not slipped at all. I am planning on buying a few more pair before they are all gone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Balance of Trail Contact & Comfort On a recent trip to Boulder, I brought my pair of Peregrine 5s for running the trails west of the town. This pair had taken me through a full season of 50Ks plus training runs. Well, I blew out the sides on the way to Boulder while in the Badlands. So, emergent purchase at REI since my spare Peregrine 6s were back home. I REALLY enjoyed my runs in Boulder with the new Peregrine 7s! No break-in or heel issues at all. They also gave me good grips on the snow & ice at higher elevations. Yes, I forgot my spikes ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable and roomy This is my third pair of this particular shoe. I use them as trail hiking, not running. Good on loose, rocky, or packed trails. Breathability is great when warmer and cold when temps are in 30s/low 40s. The toebox is roomy, the soles protect the balls and heels of the foot and they have very good stability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent trail running shoe I bought these and wore them out of the box for the North Face Challenge trail series. Great grip even when caked in mud. Ran through multiple stream beds and over pointed rocks and did not feel a single one through the soles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe for hiking/backpacking. Great fit and comfortable out of the box with no break in required. Better traction than any shoe I've ever owned. Somehow feels lighter than my bare feet. Possibly the best looking trail runner on the market. Size seemed to run a bit large. I normally wear an 11 or 12. 10.5 fits perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from That tread though Seriously. That tread. It is so grippy, yet still lets you run plenty fast. And the cushioning, especially when these are new, is really nice. This is the third pair of Peregrines I've owned, and they seem to keep getting better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable My workouts at work often times have us running through all sorts of terrain (beach, trails, and pavement) so I needed a shoe that could handle the changes as they were thrown at me. I saw these and decided to give them a shot, and man, I am glad I did! They are incredibly comfortable, provide great traction, and look awesome too. I could not ask for more. If you're on the ropes head down to the store and try them on. You won't look back after that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trail Running Shoes Rock solid running platform for rocky trails. These shoes are also quite comfortable. For me they are the best trail running shoes I have ever had. So far, they perform well on any terrain type I have encountered.

Questions & Answers

I've been trying out these shoes for a couple of months.  Feel great under foot.  My issue is keeping my heel locked.  I know once it's summer, my feet will sweat and I'll get blisters.  Any suggestions?

Asked by: Nic L
You might try lacing the shoes differently. Try the "Loop Lacing Lock" style. This is designed to minimize heel slippage.

How about wet conditions? Say, wet, slippery river rocks.

The traction on these shoes is AWESOME!  The directional tread is superb. I ran a Spartan Race and watched people sliding and falling beside me while I was steadfast. Really, Really, love these!  I wear them all the time now just because they are so darn comfortable. Worth every penny.

I typically wear a wide or extra wide shoe. Do these run wide or are there super narrow like Salomons?

Asked by: Timo
If you have a truly wide (2E-4E) you could try to size up, but the upper material doesn’t have a lot of give, so you can’t rely on stretch during break-in. As a trail shoe, this is a good thing so your feet don’t roll inside the shoe on difficult terrain, but it could be constricting. I have a wide-ish foot (basically a 1E) and I find the shoe snug but not uncomfortable, but I typically go up a half size in my running shoes.

How well does it drain/vent after it gets completely soaked through, like after a creek crossing?

Asked by: Kevin
This product does possess some moisture-wicking features, however it will take a while for the upper and the foot bed to dry after it has been soaked through. It is not a water shoe.
