Sizing notes

This size chart is meant to be a guide only, as Danner styles are built from various footwear lasts that fit each foot differently. Generally, most people size down a half to a full size when buying Danner boots as compared to their shoe size from any major athletic footwear brand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Hiking Boot but I’m not happy! I bought a pair of the Danners Mountain 600 on May, 2017 to go around Meadowdale Park on Lynnwood, WA, after a month, one of the right foot upper eyelet came off the leather, REI replaces those for a new pair, not problem, one month later, the Danners Mountain 600 make all kind of noises when I walk or run, I may say, the first pair that I bought feels like walking on clouds, the second pair aren’t that comfy for some reason, hence maybe that’s why it makes weird noises at all. Last night, I went to talked to Customer Service about it, I guess I may return those pair as well.. Since I bought a new pair of the Danner Mt Adams already.. Good Luck...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Fit, great grip, classic look Great looking suede and comfy! Unlike the more legacy Danner mountain boots these did not really require any sort of break in period. I typically wear a size 8.5-9 in sneakers (don't have a wide foot), but went ahead and got these in an 8.5. They still had toe wiggle room so I feel that they possibly run a little big and are not TTS. So far I am very satisfied with the quality of the sole and the level of grip on the trail. Will see how these hold up after a couple of months and I have yet to try them out in water (Los Angeles hahah)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lightweight support I bought these to replace a very worn out pair of Asolo TPS520s. I had every intention of replacing them with the same but just couldn't stomach the price. These Danners were a great replacement. Very light and comfortable, they feel like a heavy duty high top tennis shoe. Definitely not as bullet proof feeling on your feet for carrying heavy backpacks (compared to something like the Asolos), but will get the job done. I'd say it a really study hiking boot, but if you do mostly backpacking with a really heavy pack, I'd probably go something heavier. Overall great boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spectacular Hiking Shoe I bought these shoes early August and have been on several hiking trips with them, including a 2 day backpacking trip. I must say, these shoes are phenomenal. They are very comfortable, even right out the box without being broken in. They are light weight, feel sturdy, and are agile . I can walk ankle deep in water without water seeping in. My wife bought a pair and loves them as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Light Hiker. Fits A Bit Large. This boot is very comfortable out of the box. I normally size up for boots. These you could go either way. I went up a half size and wear cushioned socks which I feel helps with avoiding toe jams with a medium weight pack. On the trail, it doesn't feel too big and I don't catch my toes at all. I looked at many boots for "fastpacking" since I am not a fan of clunky heavy boots unless absolutely necessary. I am a fast, light-on-my-feet hiker. These hit the spot for price, quality, effectiveness and looks. I will test with a heavier pack (40lbs) later. Pros: - leather more durable than other light hikers running shoe fabrics - very light but a true hiker - running shoe comfort - ankle protection, but not overly supportive - waterproof works well - great traction - stable - rock protection/shank - easy to take off, unlaces fast - classic looks - quality for price - it's Danner Cons: - hotter than desired, feels claustrophobic - left foot ankle pads rubbed and caused bruising (out-of-the-box) - break-in-free (other than left foot ankle pads) - laces can "pop-off" easily while your tying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around boot! I have been wearing these boots 10 plus hours a day, since I received them,(about a week) I LOVE them. they are very comfortable, little to no leg fatigue at the end of the day. have put 2 hikes at 2+ days in them. I live in Montana where mother nature is bipolar, they are super waterproof and have lived up to Danner's name. I recommend them to anyone who needs a great everyday boot, along with a great hiking boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I may wear them to bed Bought these a couple of weeks ago with some trepidation - based solely on the fact I hate buying shoes on line and would rather go to a store to try them on - that goes double for something like hiking boots where a wrong size would have unparalleled misery on a hike! But, I received a $100 voucher from opening an REI account and, after realizing my low top sneaker style Patagonias weren't up to it after going up and down Mt Mitchell last summer, I bit the bullet. - First up, and with nothing but vanity in mind, these look awesome Soft leather, red laces and soles - tres chic - After a good deal of admiration, on they went - they fit like a glove and felt like a sneaker on the soles of my feet, but with the unmistakable support of a boot. I spent the rest of the evening trotting round the house with glee. No rubbing, no sliding, no toe crunching, just perfectly comfortable with a foamy soft compression in every step. They also provided a good deal of heat insulation (I know, I'm in NC not ND but still, feet were comfortably warm outside at 30F with only a decent pair of hiking socks on - Hopefully this won't be a problem on the flip side of a Carolina summer....) I have had them on (more than off) at every opportunity and had them up in the W VA mountains this past w/e - no serious hiking but a solid workout when out and about, and unbelievably comforting to the feet after a days skiing. I should point out, as yet I haven't taken them on a serious hike across a range of terrain, so should probably should hold off on a final rating regarding longevity and hardiness of construction but honestly, the way they have felt on my feet since coming out the box I'd be stunned if they let me down. I'll definitely be looking at other Danner products for a lighter shoe style to wear on an everyday basis as the quality and workmanship look like these puppies will just keep on walking! Short version, no complaints so far about anything - look, quality and comfort match the claims made and reviews by others. Can't wait for their next "serious" outing down to S Carolina with my son and the boy scouts next month where they'll get a proper work out....Here's to more outdoor adventure and less procrastination!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable boot I'm a 8.5 size and these fit well with wool socks. At first I got a pinching pain in one foot. I loosened the first lace and it went away. These are on the way to being my favorites.

Are these serious hiking boots? Boots that can handle rough, rocky trails and at least a 40 pound back pack? They look good but are they a fashion item as opposed to a real hiking boot.

Asked by: Hammer Toe Joe
These boots are designed for day hiking on technical terrain. We do not suggest using these when hiking with a 40 lb. pack, a boot that is designed specifically for backpacking is a better choice.

Which width are these, D or EE? The Danner website advertises that these are available in a D and an EE width. I don't see an option on the REI site.

We offer the Mountain 600 Mid WP Hiking Boots in the standard D width.
