At first when I tried these on they felt great - a perfect balance of enough sturdiness, flexibility and comfort. The overall design is great for minimizing weight while maintaining sufficient structure and strength. and it comes with a second type of shoelace for multiple options. However, after walking around with them at home for about 10 minutes to further test them, two hard knots formed on the sidewalls of the boots near the base of my pinky toes. It seems there is a spot of bunched up material in that spot that flexes inward when under stress; this made the boots unwearable as it caused a great deal of pressure on my feet in a small spot, and my feet quickly began aching and tingling. Unfortunately they are not suitable for even short ventures and I will have to return them.
I've almost always hiked in low top walking footwear and was afraid to walk in a taller boot. No worries, they fit very nice with no discomfort or digging in by the taller fit. The lugs grip and feel good on the foot with a added bonus, Gore Tex waterproofing!
Super nice quality materials and build. 100% runs big , order a half size down from normal (even from regular Danner size). fit was just not it for me after getting the correct size. Like another review said, there was a strange pressure point around the ankle. I have many other danners and these are the only ones that I’ve had this. I ended up returning.
Tried on Mountain 600 at store to get my size, then had 600 ID delivered. They seem to run 1/2 size large. Replaced the insoles with superfeet and they are very comfy. I experienced the bunched fabric pressure point at the base of the little toe, but that went away after some flexing of the leather and a few miles hiking. These are now my favorite boots.
I tested these out walking around the house and the right boot felt different than the left. I could feel the lugs pushing into the ball of my foot. I expected more from Danner, especially for the price. Returning these.
great boot, but I haven't worn it out of the house yet as I am still breaking it in.
