Rated 5 out of 5 by from First-class Backpacking Boot I am a 27 year old female hiker. I like to hike as much as possible, which ultimately adds up to about 3-4 times a month. I have completed longer trails such as the John Muir Trail, but most of the time I escape on the weekend to hike shorter, five to ten mile trails. I laced up my new boots (Rambler GTX) at the trail-head, and I was immediately impressed by the amount of cushion in the heel of the boot. Also, when lacing up the boot, the heel cup secured my foot in place. After taking a few steps, I noticed that the interior stitching up the ankle of the boot rubbed a bit. This rubbing subsided after the first mile; it just took a bit of walking for the stitching to soften up. I also must admit that they felt a bit heavy and clunky at first, but that's likely because I typically hike in trail runners. After some time, I adjusted to the feel of the boot and appreciated the support it offered. The next six miles in these boots were a dream! I was impressed that only one adjustment needed to be made over the duration of the hike; I stopped once to tighten my laces when descending a hillside to eliminate the slightest bit of rub on the bottom of my toes. Tightening the laces did the trick, once again securing my foot perfectly in place! After seven miles in brand new boots, my feet were happy, comfortable, dry (despite the rain), and blister free! The Rambler GTX performed better than I expected, especially for a unisex boot. They were completely waterproof, handled a variety of terrain with easy, and provided amazing ankle and heel support. Additionally, the Vibram sole is fairly light weight and the deep lugs provided for excellent traction. The Rambler GTX would best suit hikers/backpackers in need of a highly supportive and waterproof boot. The width isn't wide nor especially narrow, tailored to an average foot. In my experience, the sizing runs a bit large so sizing down one full size seems appropriate. Overall, the Rambler GTX is great boot that will be worn in comfort for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Most comfortable boot ever worn! I used these boots for the first time in Glacier National Park in Montana, hiked the Continental Divide at least 16 miles. No worries! Durable, had to tighten laces halfway through the hike, other than that fine! Rained a little but the gore Tex kicked in and feet stayed dry. Had Danners,Lola's Asolo's,Vasquez boots before all were okay but these are INCREDIBLE! Buy them!

Do these boots offer good arch support for us pronators?

Asked by: MF55
These boots do offer a lot of arch support. If you find that it is not enough for you, you can always add a pair of insoles.

are they good for 2E wide foot?

Asked by: Medi
The Ramblers are a men's standard "D" width. They would probably be too narrow for 2E wide feet.
