Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, cheap zipper I snagged this gem for a 10 day Kayak trip on the Buffalo river in Arkansas. It's lite, pack-able and just the right weight for the weather expected. We got caught in a tornado and after my Thermarest soaked up all the water from my tent(REI half dome) being tossed 20 feet i laid this down and actually didn't get wet! I want to buy 3 more for my family. My only complaint is the zipper is kinda cheap feeling. I know for the price I should not complain but-- ya know.It didn't break or anything and it zips completely, but it snags every 1/2 inch .. even if I am looking and pulling fabric away from it. Oh well... Thanks REI for awesome gear

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helio Sack under 40 degress Overall good bag very lightweight and regular size was good for 5'10 person, if taller I would choose next size up. We camped in the mountains of South Carolina North West border in first part of may, Temperature got just below 40 degrees and we were cold. I was in full mummy mode and found the pull strings around the top of bag would not stay out side of bag when it was fully cinched. So the string was in my face during the night. I was able to tuck one of the cords behind the Velcro but not both. I think making the Velcro a bit larger would fix the very small issue. Overall good warm weather bag at a great price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works for a spring/summer bag I have taken this bag with me on multiple occasions. It's light and fits easily into my pack with all my other gear. On one occasion it rained and was in the upper 50's. In combination with my Klymit V insulated pad and fly over my tent it kept me warm, almost too warm. It is a little tight like similar mummy bags. In the summer, I'll probably just sleep on top of it. Great warm weather bag in combo with an insulated pad underneath. Good price point. The sack it comes in is a storage bag. I wouldn't recommend using it in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug Just got back from 6 nights on the AT in the Delaware Water Gap. Temps at night were in the mid-to-low 60's. It was very comfortable for the temperatures, dare I say "perfect". One night it did hit the high-50's and I put on a pair of socks. With that said, I am 6'0" around 230 lbs (40" waist) and I found the Large to be "snug" in the waist and feet. So this bag (The Large) will be going to my son, and I will be ordering the XL for those needed few extra inches. The stuff sack is GREAT! The compressed size of it really helped save space in an already cramped 60L back pack. Thanks REI

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super Quality sleeping bag Great bag. I had been in the market for a good three season sleeping bag with a hood and a wide bottom for more leg room. The leg room is good. Not quite the space i was hoping for but the bag is roomy and just the right amount of warm. It can open fully to allow for the use of a blanket instead. I am 6 foot 1 and 186 pounds lean. I bought the long version of the bag and it is a good fit. It compresses to a decent size and is very easy to pack. the only things i would change is the width at the base (personal preference in sleep) and the stuff sack needs compression straps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag for warm weather I just bought this bag for an AT hike we are planning in Aug. I used it once on the back yard on a 60 degree night. I went in half way through the night to add socks and pajama pants to my attire as my feet were cold. After that I was nice and cozy. It is pretty thin but does provide that little extra warmth u need. I also bought the cocoon cool max liner but haven't tried the two together yet. I like to spread out so it is a nice feature that it zips all the way around the bottom so you can let your legs out if it is too hot. I am happy so far. We'll see how it does on trail. The stuff sack provided has two different sinch points so I don't think you would need a compression sack if using the smaller of the two. I plan to use the stuff sack for a pillow as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Extremely compact sleeping bag for warm weather This is a very durable and comfortable sleeping bag for any camping trip. Most importantly, it is extremely compact and fits snuggly at the bottom of my pack. In conjunction with a sleeping pad, this sleeping bag improves the base camp experience. I used this sleeping bag when temperatures dropped as low as 40 F. I was definitely cold, but I had a small liner in hand and adding it under the down layer made the bag extremely warm, at times even too warm. I imagine that the sleeping bag would be perfect for temperatures as low as 50F without additional lining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for the price Bout this bag but haven't field tested it yet. I have looked it over inside and out. I love the fact that it opens all the way up so that it can be used more like a blanket in my hammock. Is very light weight but still holds some warmth. The bag that comes with it is pretty nice and compacts pretty nice. All around so far I wouldn't think you could find a better bag for the money. Fits nice in my backpack. Well worth the money if you are looking for a nice sleeping bag without breaking the bank. Side note is that it is pretty slim though as I am 5'10 210 pounds and it fits snug.

Does the zipper on the right allow the bag to be opened up like a blanket by going all the way along bottom to the left side bottom?

Asked by: Norman8
The Helio Sack does have a zip-around footbox. The right zipper can be completely unzipped and the bag opened for use as a quilt.
