Very comfortable chair

My wife and I fly fish and we like to bring a chair to make getting into and out of waders easier. The tradition sling style camp chairs are too reclined to be much help, and we were looking for a more upright chair. This one's perfect, and really comfortable for other uses too. Complements the Kingdom camp table perfectly!

Chair Seat Fills Up With Water
Charles Miller
My wife and I bought these chairs last year at full price, and we have since used them many times for outdoor camping. Most recently, we left the chairs outside at camp as we took a short hike, during which time a heavy thunderstorm surprised us and trapped us away from camp for about an hour. When we returned to camp, we found the chairs were wet, but the canvas seats were already drying out nicely. It was about an hour later that we noticed a sloshing sound when we finally sat in the chairs. The canvas seats apparently have a plastic inner lining that fills with water like a hydration bladder. Seriously, each chair had accumulated at least a liter of water in the seat. And it wouldn't drain out or dry out on its own. In fact, the water was still sloshing around in the chair seats a week later, long after our camping trip. The only solution I found was to use an icepick to perforate the plastic inner lining (stabbing right through the canvas seat), which allowed the water to completely trickle out in about fifteen minutes. This is a decided design flaw for an outdoor chair, as I'm sure many other customers have discovered for themselves, despite the glowing reviews.

Great chair!

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to in the case of the REI Kingdom Chair. My wife and I, both approaching 70, just returned from a two week camping trip to the Rockies. We used these chairs everyday. They are very comfortable, sturdy, and easy to get in and out of, much more so than the “bag” chairs they replaced. Once you master how to fold them, they are very compact and the carrying handle is very convenient. They are a little on the heavy side, but that’s because of the solid construction. These are the best camp chairs I’ve ever used.

Quality and Comfort

We needed two chairs for watching grandkids soccer games and to take when we travel to state parks or our land for the day. I was impressed by the five star rating so I ordered two Kingdom Chairs. We set them up in the living room and neither of us were sure about how we liked them. I did some more searching for camp chairs and saw nothing as well built so we kept them. I'm glad we did! These chairs are roomy, extremely comfortable, stable on uneven ground and don't sink in mud. Overall, the best camp chairs we have ever seen. They are heavier than some other chairs (not all) but if your just walking from a parking lot. it's no big deal. They will also make great extra chairs around the yard. I think they should last a lifetime if treated well.

Comfortable but heavy and bulky

This chair is superior for comfort but its considerable weight and bulkiness should be considered if space in your vehicle is tight. It barely folds for storage and needs a tight fit to stay folded. It tends to snap open with enough force to damage fragile items like lanterns during packing and unpacking my for trips. It could use a restraining strap. It is easily the bulkiest and heaviest item in my car camping gear. I have to leave it behind when space is at a premium on trips. It is just not well suited for travel in compact vehicles if you need the space, which is a shame because it is a pleasure to sit in.

My new favorite chair

had a chance to try this chair, and immediately fell in love with it. I like how "firm" the seat is. My elderly family members like this chair as it's easy to get in and out of. I found myself sitting in this chair at camp during campfire gatherings and just hanging out.

These chairs are so cool

I bought these chairs a few weeks ago and absolutely love them. It takes maybe 30 seconds to figure out how to open and close them but once you do all of your neighbors will be suitably impressed. They are definitely state of the art; even James Bond will want a pair. Almost as important: they are very comfortable and easy to get in and out of. I highly recommend them.

Great camping chair

This is a great chair. It's lightweight, sturdy and very comfortable. Most importantly, it's easy to get out of. I will probably be fighting my husband for use of this chair on our next camping trip! :-)

Great Camp Chair

Finally a chair that is comfortable AND easy to get up from. It folds quickly and there is no bag to worry about. My friend liked mine so much she bought one. It is made with high quality materials and has just enough padding.

Sturdy, comfortable portable chair

I tested this chair in the Issaquah REI right before attending an event at Lake Sammamish Park, where I used it. I was looking for stability, ease of getting up from the chair, and comfort. I absolutely hate cheap nylon folding chairs. This chair exceeded my expectations in all 3 categories. Its height makes it easy to raise yourself out of the chair. The seat was sturdy as well. It's a solid and not lightweight chair. It would be difficult to carry long distances but I was looking for comfort. It easily folds and has a built in handle. I love it.

Comfy chair where ever I go!

If you're thinking about getting this chair stop looking and just get it. You won't regret it. This chair not only looks great with the green canvas and wood armrest, it's very sturdy and provides lots of upwright support. I bought 2 and keep them in my car and bust them out when ever I get the chance. The only negative thing about this chair is that it doesn't have cup holders/storage compartments, but they are better than the chairs with cup holders in my opinion.
