My wife and I fly fish and we like to bring a chair to make getting into and out of waders easier. The tradition sling style camp chairs are too reclined to be much help, and we were looking for a more upright chair. This one's perfect, and really comfortable for other uses too. Complements the Kingdom camp table perfectly!
I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to in the case of the REI Kingdom Chair. My wife and I, both approaching 70, just returned from a two week camping trip to the Rockies. We used these chairs everyday. They are very comfortable, sturdy, and easy to get in and out of, much more so than the “bag” chairs they replaced. Once you master how to fold them, they are very compact and the carrying handle is very convenient. They are a little on the heavy side, but that’s because of the solid construction. These are the best camp chairs I’ve ever used.
We needed two chairs for watching grandkids soccer games and to take when we travel to state parks or our land for the day. I was impressed by the five star rating so I ordered two Kingdom Chairs. We set them up in the living room and neither of us were sure about how we liked them. I did some more searching for camp chairs and saw nothing as well built so we kept them. I'm glad we did! These chairs are roomy, extremely comfortable, stable on uneven ground and don't sink in mud. Overall, the best camp chairs we have ever seen. They are heavier than some other chairs (not all) but if your just walking from a parking lot. it's no big deal. They will also make great extra chairs around the yard. I think they should last a lifetime if treated well.
This chair is superior for comfort but its considerable weight and bulkiness should be considered if space in your vehicle is tight. It barely folds for storage and needs a tight fit to stay folded. It tends to snap open with enough force to damage fragile items like lanterns during packing and unpacking my for trips. It could use a restraining strap. It is easily the bulkiest and heaviest item in my car camping gear. I have to leave it behind when space is at a premium on trips. It is just not well suited for travel in compact vehicles if you need the space, which is a shame because it is a pleasure to sit in.
had a chance to try this chair, and immediately fell in love with it. I like how "firm" the seat is. My elderly family members like this chair as it's easy to get in and out of. I found myself sitting in this chair at camp during campfire gatherings and just hanging out.
I bought these chairs a few weeks ago and absolutely love them. It takes maybe 30 seconds to figure out how to open and close them but once you do all of your neighbors will be suitably impressed. They are definitely state of the art; even James Bond will want a pair. Almost as important: they are very comfortable and easy to get in and out of. I highly recommend them.
This is a great chair. It's lightweight, sturdy and very comfortable. Most importantly, it's easy to get out of. I will probably be fighting my husband for use of this chair on our next camping trip! :-)
Finally a chair that is comfortable AND easy to get up from. It folds quickly and there is no bag to worry about. My friend liked mine so much she bought one. It is made with high quality materials and has just enough padding.
I tested this chair in the Issaquah REI right before attending an event at Lake Sammamish Park, where I used it. I was looking for stability, ease of getting up from the chair, and comfort. I absolutely hate cheap nylon folding chairs. This chair exceeded my expectations in all 3 categories. Its height makes it easy to raise yourself out of the chair. The seat was sturdy as well. It's a solid and not lightweight chair. It would be difficult to carry long distances but I was looking for comfort. It easily folds and has a built in handle. I love it.
If you're thinking about getting this chair stop looking and just get it. You won't regret it. This chair not only looks great with the green canvas and wood armrest, it's very sturdy and provides lots of upwright support. I bought 2 and keep them in my car and bust them out when ever I get the chance. The only negative thing about this chair is that it doesn't have cup holders/storage compartments, but they are better than the chairs with cup holders in my opinion.
