Will focus on evaluating the chair here specifically and not the price point - will let you decide your own cost benchmark for what a camping chair should be valued at. Let's start with the cool aspects of this chair:
 - Comfort: This chair is genuinely very comfortable with cushioned padding that supports your legs and back. Don’t expect it to be your La-Z-boy lounger but for a camping chair it does feel better than your standard competitor folding chair where you sit on a thin nylon/polyester sheet. The fabric is not scratchy and feels comfortable next to skin. Perfect for sitting around a campfire or watching a sporting event/tailgating.
 - Design: There are some neat features to this chair such as the fold-out cup holder and top security strap to keep the chair from flopping open when carried on your back. The materials feel high quality and the wooden armrests are smooth and add a touch of class when you’re outdoors. The chair also sits relatively stable without a lot of wobble on flat surfaces.

- Portability: The backpack straps allow you to carry the chair comfortably on the back, although I do wish they are a bit more padded. When carrying it, it feels lighter than its listed weight and while I wouldn’t consider this to be an ultra-portable camping chair, carrying it a couple hundred feet shouldn’t be an issue for most people. Some things to be aware of: - Sizing: I'm 5'8", approximately 150lbs, and the width for the chair is perfect for someone of my size/weight. I’d compare it to roughly the width of an economy airline seat so larger folks may feel a little squeezed. Would recommend trying the chair out in your local REI store if possible before purchasing.
 - Water Resistance: There is a slight quirk that because of the grooves in the seating area of the chair that liquid that beads off the surface will tend to accumulate in these grooves so just be aware it might require a quick shake to dispel, so you’re not just sitting in standing liquid. Otherwise the water resistance is quite good, though I would expect that to fade over time

. All in all a very well constructed, if slightly unremarkable, camping chair providing reliable comfort for car camping, fishing, or sporting events. Looking forward to continue using this for lighter outdoor adventures!
I received this product as a part of the REI Trailblazer product testing program. I’ve been really impressed with the REI Co-Op Westward Padded Chair. It’s comfortable, well-built, and strikes a great balance between durability and portability. For anyone who has considered the much heavier chair made by the “marquee cooler manufacturer” this is a fantastic alternative that delivers similar comfort without the extra bulk or weight. One thing that really stands out is the seat height—it’s noticeably better for taller people and makes getting in and out of the chair much easier than many low-slung camp chairs. The cup holders are also thoughtfully designed and actually hold drinks securely rather than feeling like an afterthought. If I could change anything, I’d add a small storage pocket for things like a phone or sunglasses and maybe one additional cup holder for a second drink or water bottle. Overall though, it’s a great camp chair—comfortable, sturdy, and far easier to carry than the heavier alternatives.
I found the Westward Padded Folding Chair to be sturdy and well designed. It can be used at your camp site or as an extra folding chair for your backyard. It has attached backpack straps that make it easy to carry from your truck to your camp. I’m relatively tall (6’ 2’’) and it provides a very comfortable place to sit. My granddaughter almost decided to bring it home with her.
This chair is super comfy, relatively lightweight and a very neat color. We had used this a lot since receiving it two weeks ago. We love the discrete cupholder that you can fold in and out so as not to make the chair more bulky when you aren’t using it. The only thing I would say as negatives are the strap that keeps the back connected to the seat so that it doesn’t pop open while carrying it is a little tricky to get hooked. I would prefer it to have a standard buckle. I also would not pay $130 for this chair if I were to buy it on my own. But I will be using this lots while camping and spectating sports.
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. This chair is sturdy and comfortable, probably the most comfortable camp chair I have had to date. The drink holder folds out from underneath, and easily held my travel mug. There is a snap to hold the chair together when folded for easy transport. I did not use the packpack straps on the back, but it looks like those would make it a lot easier to carry this chair while hiking. The chair itself is very comfortable for extended sitting, and it doesn't sag like some fold-up chairs I have had in the past. Highly recommended.
I received this products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. Padding: the chair is composed of a nice light weight padding, much more than what your average fold up camp chair would have. Color: Being that I am from the PNW, I’m more a fan of black, blue, gray, green tones. But this is a minuscule “con” Packability: this chair folds well and even has backpack straps so your hands are free for carrying a cooler or other items to your destination. It also has a fabric handle in case you do want to carry it Versatility: there’s a large cup holder that has the option to swivel out or tuck underneath the seat (nice touch). It fits a wide mouth 32 oz Nalgene. The fabric portion of the chair must have a hydrophobic coating as I was able to brush melted snow/water right off. Final thoughts: I will be keeping this chair in my car throughout the spring and summer time for after those 20+ mile long backpacking trips and you just gotta take the boots off and sit down for a while before hitting the road. Would recommend getting this chair!
