Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best tents I've owned! I have two camping trips on the books in this tent now. Both trips I was camping out of the car. This sets up fairly easy and quick, but it would be much easier with two people because the poles tend to one to pop out as you put the other side in. But setup with rainfly takes me about 10 minutes. There is tons of room in this thing. Me and my son use it and there is plenty of room to put our cots on each side and put our little table right in the middle to eat on and play cards. We put all of our gear under our cots and put our dogs sleeping mat right in the middle pushed up against the back wall. This things is absolutely perfect for us. It poured rain on one of our trips and not a single drop made it in. Taking down is just as quick as setting up. My only complaint with this tent is the bottom portion of the door sticks up really high and we tend to catch our toe on it and trip into the tent pretty often. Not a make or break though. I give it an A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Tent! Girlfriend and I took this tent on a week long trip to King's Canyon. Beautiful weather for most of the trip, but in typical High Sierra fashion a freak thunderstorm blew in out of no where. High winds, heavy down pour, hail, and some snow. This tent held up like a champ! No water leakage at all! I was very impressed with this tent and highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Tent for Shorter Backpacking Trips My wife and I tend to want more space then is typically necessary for two people to demand, and we wanted to transition from car camping to backpacking so we thought this tent would suit our needs for the near future. We have been on a couple of trips with this tent now and despite its weight, we were able to split up the load and manage fine. The tent itself is pretty basic, but will fit the needs for short trips or day to day camp movement. It is easy to set up and tear down with two people, and one person can set it up in a pinch. My only issue with the tent is the door zipper, which tends to catch if the the front of the door is not tensioned properly with the corner stakes. Not a make or break issue, but a bit of a pain when one of your hands is full of gear and you need two hands to get the door zipper shut. This tent has also been through a couple decent rains and held up just fine, no leaks or issues at all. Our last trip was on the shore of a lake, and despite being windy, the tent was still easy to set up and held up against the wind without issue. We also like this tent as a quick car camping tent when we just don't need the luxurious confines of our Kingdom6. It is big enough for two people and all their gear, with a little room to spare, and shorter people will be able to sort of stand in the peak.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Little Tent Have had it a month and have taken two 2-night car camping trips so I can't yet comment on its durability. Easily set up, packs small, great ventilation. Two minor negatives: although marketed as a 4-man tent, it's too small for that - the sides aren't vertical enough for me to sleep crosswise so this is a good size for me and my wife. And, the tent stakes are too flimsy and too few. REI's own website advice is to stake down the tent (using the 4 stakes included) AND to tie out the guylines (those 6 stakes aren't included)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing redesign for 2016 The previous version of the REI Camp Dome 4 was about 6 inches taller than this redesigned version. That headroom is sorely missed in what is otherwise a stellar tent design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tent for 2 + Just bought this for a river trip. Wanted a tent bigger than 2 person so we could use cots. I was able to put it up on my own. Enough room for 2 with cots and gear. Bought the footprint to protect the bottom from the metal bars of the cot. Worked like a charm. Only negative is I would have liked 8 stakes instead of just 4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tent for car camping I bought this tent because I am a tall guy who doesn't want to be cramped while I'm sleeping. This is so spacious. It will be perfect for camping with friends this summer.

Regarding the fabric, I see it's water resistant. Can you gI've me an estimate of how much rain it would withstand? Can the fabric  be ripper apart by an accident or it's sturdy enough that I (or a racoon) can't break it with my hands?

Asked by: Ignacio K
The rainfly included with the Camp Dome 4 tent is waterproof. The body of the tent is water resistant. If there is not driving wind and rain, the inside of the tent should stay dry.

There was a small aluminum tube, 5-1/8" in length, packed with the tent poles. What is this used for?

Asked by: bottomtothetap
The small tube is a pole repair sleeve. It can be slid over a broken section of pole as a quick repair in the field.

The only instructions I got with this tent are text instructions on a flap attached to the bag.  Are there any other instructions, perhaps with diagrams?  Why there only 4 stakes.  Shouldn't we get 2 extra stakes for the rain fly?

Asked by: ice nine
We do included the minimum number of stakes needed to set up the tent. You are welcome to purchase additional stakes if needed. We would be happy to email you a copy of the tent set up instructions. Please send is an email requesting the instructions:
