I'm 5'10 and found it provides enough room to for me to sleep on my back or on my side without touching the ground. I can inflate it in 20 normal breaths. I found deflating it a little (~15 breaths) was about perfect for my double layer hammock. A little slippage at first but once I am in the hammock I don't move much anyways. I think some type of silicone dots on the bottom would be my only critique and it's minor at that. It was a little too wide from the knees down to fit comfortably in my sleeping bag (Marmot Atom). Feels well made, and packs easily. Exactly what I was looking for to add to my bikepacking kit.
I love the size and weight of this unit, but the trade off is comfort. It would be great for only back sleepers, however i do tend to sleep on my side a lot. My hips and shoulder were a little uncomfortable at times. I tried to switch over to my back once this happened and was once comfortable again. I even thought it may be nice to sleep on my stomach, but that will have to wait till next time. I could have not gotten the proper amount of air in the pad. So i will need to try a few more times. It only seems to take about 12 to 15 breaths to inflate, so very accurate description from the manufacturer! I did have a little trouble deflating the unit and getting it packed back in the provided stuff sack.
I've been using this pad on the weekends all summer, and it's been a dream. I never thought I would get such a combination of lightweight and small with super comfortable. I sleep on my side, and don't really feel pressure points on my hips. It rolls up so small, I actually keep it inside my sleeping bag's stuffsack! It's the best of both worlds. It has never leaked or deflated, and is just as full in the morning as when I've just finished inflating it. And the inflation process seriously only takes about ten breaths- crazy easy. I cannot conceptualize a better mat. That being said, this pad is not insulated, and as an inflatable, it could be quite cold. During fall camping, I layer a space blanket between me and the pad for some extra insulation.
I got to try out the Klymit Static V2 camping pad on a recent backpacking trip in North Georgia as a ranger for the Dyrt. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the light weight but incredibly comfortable design and would highly recommend it. I would say it is particularly useful for backpackers in warmer weather who are really focused on comfort and lightweight but aren't as concerned about insulation. The v design is really nice and cradles your body giving you the ability to sleep on your side or back and even roll around without being uncomfortable.
I have not had a positive experience with backpacking pads until I bought this one. My primary goal was to lighten my load, and I was hoping for two more things: comfort and durability. I got both! This pad is lofty and oh-so-comfy! I love the side rails that help you stay on the pad, and it wasn't noisy either. It was super quick to inflate and worth the effort. Also, it doesn't seem fragile, and aside from it being significantly lighter than my last sleeping pad, it also folds up into a nice small bag. This pad really improved my sleeping experience in the great outdoors.
I am 6'2", and weigh 210. I am an active stomach/side sleeper, and all of my other gear is "ultralight" (at just over a lb, some would say that this pad is not "ultralight"). This pad packs super small compared to my old Exped Synmat UL 7 (which popped a weld after ~10 nights). It feels way more substantial than the NeoAir (or any other pad I have tried <1lb). It inflates and deflates quickly (I can have it back in its stuff sack in under a minute). Adjusting how firm it is was super easy with the push/pull twist to lock valve (WHICH IS REPLACEABLE!). I have not yet tried it in super cold conditions (for me that is overnight below 30 F), but I can say that so far it is way warmer than I expected for the low R-value (Exped is 3+). I have read other glowing verified purchaser reviews elsewhere from gentleman over 6 ft tall, including one where it was used on a JMT. The JMT reviewer said that the only night he was at all cold in the Sierras (he went in August), was when he got caught in a hail storm and had to camp on packed snow... Well duh! I would have been cold on my Exped under those conditions too :-) My bag is the MH Phantom 45 BTW. I have also heard that this pad is awesome in a hammock, but I can't confirm as I am a ground guy :-) I am looking forward to seeing how far into fall I can push this mat here in the Cascades. If I encounter a limitation, I will update my review.
I got this pad last year and am so glad I did. When i'm backpacking I want to be comfortable during the night and I also don't want to carry a ton of weight. This does the job perfectly. I don't feel like i'm going to fall of the pad and it is also easy to blow up and deflate. One time I was at base camp of a fourteener and using this pad was great. It held a lot of warmth is and I was very comfortable in strong winds. All things said, great pad in all.
This pad is 1lb and is not only packs up small, but also packs a comfortable nights rest in your 12lb load-out. -1 star because if the surface is not 100% flat the side rails are not sufficient to keep it from shifting around under you. Tough, light, small and well priced.
This pad is comfy. A tad bit small (6' 215lbs) but very doable. I don't feel like I'm sleeping on a log and trying to not fall off all night. Seems durable enough. Also works well inside my sleeping bag. Like better than my Big Agnes inflatable, less $ too is a plus.
I bought this for travel, not camping. Hotel beds are always too firm for me. This pad is wonderful, it's lightweight and small, fits in my suitcase, was able to fully inflate with 12 breaths, put it under the sheet with a blanket on top (to reduce noise, which really isn't an issue). I bought it because other reviewers said it wasn't very warm, which is good for using in a hotel bed. It was like having a pillowtop mattress! I can sleep on my side and wake up refreshed instead of aching from a too-firm bed. It was also easy to deflate, roll up, and fit back into the bag!
