These grips are fantastic! What you need to know is that on many bikes, you may need to move the gear shifters and/or hand brakes to ensure that the grips are completely installed onto the handlebars. Like some other reviews, I did not initially install them properly and they would move during my rides. The grips MUST be installed properly or they will move.

Returned because they kept rotating on the bars

I was looking for grips that would let me rest my hands on longer mtb rides, as I have issues with hand numbness. The issue I had with these grips is that they would never stay put on the bar - they kept rotating and coming loose. The issue seems to be that the end of the grip is tapered on the inside, and the clamp to tighten the grip is on the outside of the grip. This pulls the grip away from the end of the bar and causes the issue that I experienced. The solution would be to have the clamp at the inside of the grip, near the brake/shifter. The replacement grips that I bought (Ergonomic GE1) have the clamp on the inside portion of the grip, so no such issue.

No more numb hands!

Stock grips on my bike were okay, but not great. I replaced them with another brand's ergonomic grips... which were horrid. Then I came across these at my local REI. Although I have smallish hands, I purchased the size large because they felt better in my hand. They're perfect! No more numb hands and sore wrists. Price at REI was actually lower than online retailers. Glad I purchased these!

Misfit grops

i received these grips today and was very impressed with the packaging and perceived quality of the product. The left grip went on fine and locked on when torqued in place...the right grip, not so much. idk if it was variations in the bar or the plastic sleeve of the grips but no matter how much i tightened the outside mounted screw the grip would rotate. I finally resorted in folding some aluminum foil to 4 layers, 1/4"wide and the length of the grip and slid it on with the grip over the handlebar and it tightened up fine! wonderfully comfortable grips...great product. no more wrist pain.

Worth getting, great feel

My wife and I just have beach cruiser but ride 8-20 each evening. I have trouble with the grips that came standard always slipping. My Electra is a 3 speed so one grip needs to be shorter than the other and I had trouble finding a good set of grips that worked well in this situation. I found these awesome grips at REI, brought them home and was able to shorten the right grip up very easily and installation was a snap. Needless to say I couldn't be happier with my decision to the Ergon GP1 and with my large hands it make the ride much more comfortable.

comfort is a 5

Bought these today and rode 15 miles. Comfort is most definitely a 5 in comparison to standard round grips. Night and day improvement over round grips. You really need to get them they are incredible. I have a m/l hand and got the small size. They fit perfectly, as the size chart said they would. Also I torqued the mount screws to 5 newton meters as instructions say. No slippage whatsoever nice tight hold on bar. 15 miles is hardly cause for a long term review but I just had to make a comment about ergonomic comfort.

Comfortable and Worth It

I originally had the Ergon GA3's on my previous mountain bike and the little "wing" portion of the handle bar just wasn't big enough. I opted to get the GP1's due to them having the largest wing out of any of the Ergon grips. It took a few rides to get the angle of the grip just right so it wasn't cutting into my hand and cutting off circulation but once that's figured out these are comfortable. I would say that if you are prone to wearing bike gloves with padding that you might run into the wing of the grip cutting into one or two of the pads on your gloves and creating pressure points that can get uncomfortable on longer/bumpier rides. Overall a great grip for someone that needs a bit more support in the palm of their hand.

Comfortable and Possibly Therapeutic

Well made grips that are easy to install. These may be helpful for hands and wrists with injuries or chronic conditions. I have a chronic wrist condition (from an old basketball injury) and these grips help keep my hands and wrists in a neutral position resulting is less pain when I ride. I had to experiment with rotating the grips to find the optimal location to provide the support I needed.

Comfy

This is my second pair. The first pair lasted me about five years. I ride hard and I ride a lot, leaning forward, with my seat adjusted high. My ergonomics is more like a road bike, putting weight onto my hands. After about five seasons, the grippy texture had worn off, and I started to feel the stickiness of the deteriorating gel material. Just bought my second pair about a week ago. Well worth the price, considering the comfort provided. Sizing is nice, too. I bought size SM this time vs M last time. Small is more comfortable for me.

Very comfortable

The Ergon GP1 grips are very comfortable. They installed in less than 5 minutes. It took a little adjustment to find the right angle, but once I found the sweet spot, my hands stopped getting numb like they did with the factory grips. On longer rides, I can relax my grip on the bars, and just push on the Ergons with my whole hand (if this makes sense). My bike is black, so they look very nice as well!
