Update: They broke after about 100 miles
UPDATED REVIEW: Originally I rated these grips 5 stars and was very impressed with them. Unfortunately, that all changed after about 100 miles of use. The side handle on the right grip loosened itself while riding and became unsafe to use. When I attempted to tighten the screw, the end piece just fell off. Turns out, the flimsy plastic end on the palm portion of the grip wore out and the end could no longer grip it enough to tighten. Very disappointed that they failed so quickly. Before failing, they weren't the best grips but they did offer me options for moving my hand around while riding to prevent numbness. I ended up changing the handlebars.

Ergon GP5 Evo Handlebar Grips – Returned Due to Safety Issue I purchased the Ergon GP5 Evo (Black, Size L) from REI and had to return them after a serious failure. The right bar‑end extension came off in my hand while riding, even with the clamp bolt fully tightened and no gap left. It threw me off balance and was genuinely dangerous. The left grip stayed tight, but even that one showed an odd clamp gap. I was using a Deity Highside 50 handlebar, which has extremely accurate diameter tolerances, so the issue appears to be with the GP5 Evo’s clamp design and fitment tolerances, not the bar. The clamp has very little material to actually bite the bar, and in my case it simply couldn’t hold securely. Great ergonomic concept, but the clamping system failed in a way that shouldn’t be possible. I returned the product and cannot recommend it until the design is improved.
