Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Functional These pants are not really for hiking. I'd say buy them for a car camping trip with your boyfriend or wearing aound to look outdoorsy. But big NO on functionality for backpacking or hiking. The lack of pockets is a deal killer for true outdoor use. No place to stash phone or small essentials you may not want to fumble in a backpack pocket for. Front pockets not useful at all. Also a bit too thin and the waist strikes right at the same spot as my backpack belt. I was not convinced they'd be durable enough for several days in the back country. Too bad because there are so few convertable pants out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit for baby boomer These pants fit me so well! I'm a baby boomer and in pretty good shape, but so many pants have too short a waist to look good on me. These are perfect! I wore them all over Europe, and they are perfect for flying from our cold-weather home to a hot-weather place - just zip off the legs and you're ready for sun! They travel well, minimum wrinkling and so comfy. I just wish they had them in a different color, it would make my traveling wardrobe complete!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfy but... I bought these a little over a year ago specifically for kayaking. I wanted xipoffs and water repellant, which these are. I appreciate the higher waist these pants offer! It seems that all other products at REI are really low waisted (catering to younger, very in shape people?). They also have a long inseam which I need. They really fit well and are comfy. I'll try not to complain that I had to buy a size 10 even though I am normally a 6 or 8. So best to try these on. I have probably worn them about 10 times in the past year usually for kayaking. They have become very pilly on the upper thigh and rear. Also. One of the seams has let go in the back creating a 2 inch gap. I have washed them but always air dry. My last kaysk trip was an especially wet one and the water resistence mostly failed. This surprises me because Columbia is usually of high quality and for what I paid for them I thought they would last more than 10 uses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for fuller thighs I tried the regular Saturday Trail and the convertible version. I'm 5'0" and 125 lbs withi thicker thighs. The pants fit well standing up. However, when I sit down or extend my legs as if to squat or step, I feel the convertible zipper snug around my thigh. That's not okay, so I'm going back to the regular Saturday Trail pants which are relaxed enough to move freely but not baggy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Great pair of pants but I wish they came in a smaller size! I'm 5'2" and normally wear a 0 but these don't even come close to fitting in the waist. I had to buy a belt to make them work. That said, they did a great job keeping me warm when needed, and cool when I got too hot. Wore in temp ranges of 40-75and they were great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE these pants! I wish I had purchased ten pairs of these pants. Finally, a pair of hiking pants that fit my body! There is just enough give and go in the fabric to allow for stretching over rocks and boulders, but not so much that you feel like you're swimming in extra fabric. The waist is perfectly proportioned to the upper leg area so there isn't any gapping in the wrong places.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fabric fit and color Love the fit..sort of slender..color is lighter green than I expected but still nice. Great fabric. I'm 5'2" so I got 2 short size and it fits perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good fit, not good long term performance I bought 5 pairs of these pants last year to wear hiking and walking. I loved the fit and the comfort of them. However, now after many wearings and washings, they are pilling in areas where there is rubbing, like pockets and between the legs. They also create loose threads easily for no apparent reason.
