Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great capacity & comfort Both my son and I have the "24" sized version of this backpack for the past few years. My son used this as his only luggage for a three week trip in Europe, doing laundry once a week. (And we have the smaller 24 version). I use it often for weekend camp outs. I also use it as my emergency "go bag" since I can fit my camp stove, small axe, water purifier, sleeping bag liner, first aid kit, etc. If I go on a day hike, I'm ready for most situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Carry On with great hiking potential Bought this to replace an old 40L that weighed twice as much and rode like a sack of potatoes. I can pack for a week in this ruck for travel. And I think I can get a light bag and tent in it along with winter gear for a day on the trail. Works like a ruck sack. Opens like a carry on. Has a great internal frame. Rides like a climbing ruck. I'm sure it will set well snowshoeing or X country skiing. Set up for a bladder and that pocket holds a notebook or iPad wonderfully when used as a carry on. Axe pocket holds a water bottle if you have one. I'm sure I can strap snow shoes to the side. Not so sure about skis. Didn't use the hip belt running through the airport, but I'm 6' 210 pounds 36 waist 44 chest and it works over my heavy parka. I tried. Haven't put a bladder in it yet but all the right options are there. A fly rod goes on easy. Very very happy with first impressions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weighted evenly My first hike in this pack was 8.5 miles. My legs were sore, but the pack was a huge asset. Used it for geocaching, where there are excellent pockets for everything you carry when geocaching. Great places to store lunch and the pocket for water on the outside keeps the container snug. Shoulder straps have lots of padding, making them very comfortable and the size is great for a full-day hike. Pack is well-balanced, even when full. Great pack and great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 15 days straight. I have owned this pack for about a year and decided this was going to be the ideal candidate for a lightweight 250+ mile hike. It was on my back and loaded with 25-30lb for up to 10 hours per day, for two weeks straight. I have not one complaint. The pack is comfortable, durable, and functional. I am extremely satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect and versatile I was deciding between this pack and the smaller Speed Lite 20, the latter have tons of great reviews while this one only had 1 review (at this time). I chose this pack (in part because of REI's return policy) and I'm glad I did. It's very versatile, large when it needs to be, and I especially like the integrated rain cover. It was easy to adjust and comfortable from the git-go. I use it with the hip belt tucked away in its storage garage when on short day hikes. But when I need the extra space and/or have extra weight, it works just as well as a small backpack. In fact, I'm thinking of selling my old The North Face Alpaca backpack which I use for longer trips and buying a larger Deuter backpack additionally - I like the design and comfort so much. Easily five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Backpack It's exactly what I was looking for, a backpack that I can use to carry my laptop/work things during the week, take out in the field with my photography equipment for day and weekend trips. It's comfortable and just the right size for all my needs, has a rain cover, hip belt (can tuck away) and sternum strap, and is extremely well built. Couldn't be more pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase I bought this pack a year ago, and I've been extremely happy with it. The construction is smart, versatile and perfectly designed for my needs, and I've recommended it to several people. I can say nothing but good things about this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Versatile This is the perfect weekend pack! The pack is small enough to work as a carry on bag. I was able to backpack Europe with this bag for one month (packing lightly).
