Couple things to think about
Great pack, my only two concerns are the shoulder straps come awfully close to the neck on the top of the shoulders. Not a way to adjust that, either. My other concern, and this could be just a me thing, as I know I have pretty wide hips, but the belt pocket is nearly hidden behind the pack and does not really come around the front or even the side really. My previous packs with hip belt pockets usually do come a little more around to the front that this one seems to. Not a big problem, just takes some reaching behind to get into the pocket. I would go as far as saying that half of the pocket sits under the side of the pack. Over all I love the pack. Dueter is one of my favorite brands for packs. I am happy enough with it to keep it.

Design flaw with new design
I got this as replacement to my old trail 28 and this one was horrible compared. The bag is made sturdy enough but there is a major design flaw in my opinion. The lower part of the shoulder strap where it attaches to the bottom of the bag crosses over the side pocket on the waist strap making it difficult to get into it. I don't know why they made it like this since the old one was not. But considering there's only one side pocket having it blocked by the strap made no sense for me. Maybe if you were a size double zero and the waist strap went around you smaller it might work? But for a regular size person that side strap blocks half of the pouch.

EXCELLENT pack. This bag has everything!

Excellent pack for petite women. I'm 5'2 and 110 pounds with shoulder pain and went on a 7 day hike in Patagonia with this pack. The hip buckles held all of the weight - I didn't feel any shoulder pain the entire trip. Incredible! Love the front zip feature and the pole straps. This bag has everything!

This is a really great backpack!

I really love this pack! I choose it after looking at lots of packs, and have used it everyday for about 2 months. It carries weight really comfortably- I often hiked 6+ hours with 3+ liters of water and other gear and felt like the load was well distributed; the load lifter straps, cinch straps on the side, and adjustability of the hip and shoulder straps was really helpful. Its a great size for day hikes, but was big enough to use for a couple nights at a hostel when you didn't much gear. It has great structure when wearing it, but was flat enough I could fit it easily into my backpacking pack for traveling if I needed (and I could wear it on my front and have another pack on my back). I like that I can attach my little Helinox chair or a Crazy Creek Chair (or equivalents) with the straps on the side, while still having a side exposed, or more straps to attach wet gear to, etc. Used the rain cover a lot, it wasn't perfect, but I was continuously impressed with how dry my stuff was in downpour conditions. I like the "brain" style top and the big U zipper, both features that were especially helpful to make my stuff accessible while traveling and using the backpack as my carry on. ***Biggest drawback I found is that the external pockets are not big enough to hold a wide mouth Nalgene without having to wrestle it in and out every time. It does fit smart water bottles or bike style sport water bottles better.** Overall I am very happy with the pack and anticipate many years of use ahead!

Perfect for day hikes

I live in Colorado and have used this pack on day hikes for about one year, in summer and winter. It’s super comfortable, holds all the 10 essentials (plus more), and cute! I replaced an old day pack that put too much pressure on my shoulders and upper back. The waist strap on this is fantastic for distributing the load better. I’m 5’9” and a size 12, and the pack fits well. I will say, I’m on the very end of it fitting my long torso. I wish it were adjustable in that way, but I still love it.

Narrow straps

Agree with the other review about the fit of the straps being very narrow and close to the neck, it was not comfortable
