Rated 5 out of 5 by from Structurally sound and in regs I am in the military and I need a plain black bag to carry stuff in every day and to make short trips with. I recently took a four-day trip to a moderate climate and I fit a pair of boots, a pair of sandals, 4 days change of clothes, toiletries. a huge textbook, and my 15" laptop and my kindle fire with room to spare. With all that capacity, one would expect the bag to be bulky and saggy but it was structurally sound and comfortable to wear. Everyone else had a rolling suitcase to lug around but my 2015 uptown was more than sufficient. I have to find out who needs backpacks for Christmas so I can spread the word about these high quality items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good all-rounder The bottle opener is made of a softer metal than most bottle caps (feels like aluminum). This leads to it getting nicked and scratched whenever it's used to open a bottle. I feel like given enough use the bottle opener will become rounded off and useless. Other than that, best bag I've ever owned. Also, I'm a bit skeptical of the TSA friendly features. Most screenings I've been through require the laptop and bag to be in individual trays. I feel like I would have to explain to the TSA agent how the bag works, which may not be worth the hassle. I haven't taken a flight yet, but I surely will within the next few months so I'll see how it works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Deceptively large backpack (in a good way) Bag looks average-size on the outside but I'm able to fit a ton in there (17" lap top, portable monitor, BJJ gi, in addition to small accessories). There are so many pockets/compartments I actually lose track of where I put things. I use it for everyday commutes but I can see myself taking this on a 1-2 night business trip. My biggest qualms about the backpack are that 1) the zippers seem poor in quality. they don't zip smoothly and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the first thing to malfunction on the backpack; 2) the laptop compartment is not easily accessible. For example trying to get your laptop out while on a plane would be an ORDEAL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile I bought this bag about 1 month ago. I wanted something for daily use that also can be used for day hikes, while looking good. I'm finding that it's great for daily use. I can pack way more in this bag than I thought. I usually carry my laptop, books, a change a clothes and shoes and I'm not stuffing it in and struggling to close it. Straps feel good and I love that the chest strap is removable when not using it for day hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the frequent business traveler I travel by air quite a bit, both for business and pleasure trips. I had specific needs for a backpack and was not finding it anywhere....until I remembered Timbuk2. I love the Uptown Laptop Backpack! It checks all of my personal requirements for a travel backpack. Going through airport security is much easier because of the laptop compartment on the backside. It has two large compartments for reading materials, toiletries, wallet, extra clothing layers, etc. and the front compartment has lots of little pockets for pens, comb, snacks, and keys. It looks stylish enough that I can carry it while wearing business attire, or casual enough when I'm dressed down. Thank you Timbuk2!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag! I feel like I could stuff half of my belongings in this bag and it would still look good! Lots and lots of storage, and I feel like my laptop is well protected in the back pocket. I've gotten a lot of compliments on how nice it looks, and it's a lot more professional than most bags too. It's been through some light rain successfully, but I can't speak to downpour levels. My only complaints are that the bag falls over when you put it down, I'd love another water bottle pocket, and the straps are a little far apart for some women's shoulders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I could fit two wine bottles and a 6 pack in here! :) I used this bag for work and when I brought it and showed people how much I could fit in it two people ended up buying the backpack! Somehow I managed to fit a pair of shoes, jeans, shirt, light rain jacket, deodarant, keys, cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, laptop charger, two bottles of wine, and six beers in this backpack ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! And.... it didn't feel crazy heavy or look stuffed! People called me the Mary Poppins of Alcohol after that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bag, wish it had a little bit more volume. Overall I really love this bag. The lap top pocket seems to offer decent protection, though I've only had it for a few weeks, I have dropped it once and there was no damage to my laptop. My only complaint is that I wish it had a bit more volume. The main middle compartment is quite rigid and doesn't allow you to really stuff anything in there. I don't know if I'd be able to use this on a weekend trip where I needed to take a flight and carry a few changes of clothes, but it works great for my main purpose which is protecting my laptop and carrying all my work gear into coffee shops as I'm always working remotely.
