Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for 5 bikes I used this for five bikes, and it works. Three adult bikes and two 20" kids bikes. Did have to buy the extenders for the smaller bikes, no way to do it without those. It is tight, and takes a little time to get them all on, had to adjust some seat heights. Does go in/out okay, takes a little effort, but is nice and secure once in there. No tools necessary as it says, so that is nice. Without the bikes, folds out of the way so minivan back door can open, no problem, does not fold with bikes on it. Would recommend if you need to take five bikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for 5 I bought this rack last week for my family bike riding/camping at Gettysburg weekend. We have 5 bikes, all 26"-27" wheels. Two hybrids and 3 mountain bikes. This rack carried them all with no problem. 3 of our bikes are step over frames (formerly known as girl frames). I purchased the adapter of these bikes and it worked great (except for the added expense). I love the cls used to hold the bikes in place, at the store I had a hard time closing the Thule rubber staps with holes. Only complaint- with 5 bikes the bike lock won't reach to lock. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yakima full tilt 5 The best for the family that rides or if you have a few friends. My full tilt is a second purchase as the first was damaged from a rear end accidenr. It handled it well but bent the main frame to the point where reliability could be an issue. The insurance replaced it and the new one has some great improvement. New improved frame lashings and an integrated lock where the second bottle opener used to be! It's the perfect rack. Fits 1.5 or 2 inch hitch size. Very strong and worth the price! Looks great on my Outback!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great design Overall great. Easy to put on and easy to take off. Bikes fit pretty well. Had to buy velcro strap to keep front tires from moving too much. I think the plastic buckles are difficult to use. With some effort you'll be able to get the bikes on pretty tight. Wish they would have some type of ratchet buckle system. Overall it does the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yakima FullTilt- Love it I bought both the Yakima FullTilt and SwingDaddy. I really like the FullTilt much better. Overall: I like the simplistic look, Lighter and the adjustable feature. Easy to install, 10 minutes and you are on the road. Yes, I did return the SwingDaddy - Too heavy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good luck with 5 bikes We are a family of 5 and getting 5 mountain bikes on was a no-go. The pictorial in the manual shows 5 similar sized race bikes - maybe thats possible.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bike rack I have taken this bike rack on several trips and the bikes stay secure. I don't know that you could get five bikes on the rack. I have carried up to four. I like that you can lock the bikes on the rack. My only complaint is that I have difficultly getting the rack to tilt. It may be that I purchased the store display. Overall I have been pleased with the purchase.

Can you tilt the rack away from the car/tailgate with bikes loaded?  Or does this tilt function only work with an unloaded rack? Thanks!

Asked by: NJAZ

I just opened this carrier and can't figure out how to change the hitch size to 1 1/4. I took out the three screws with the 2 allen wrenches, but cannot figure out how to get the piece separated. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Asked by: BostonBiker
We recommend contacting Yakima directly for technical assistance removing the hitch adapter.
