Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and protective Julbo Sherpa Glacier Glasses is a good example of design that was not get much better for several decades. Sherpa almost doesn't obstruct peripheral vision so you don't want to take it off when climbing 5th class terrain and need to see everything around. It doesn't get wet and foggy. It packs compact. It protects your eyes from both direct and reflected sunlight. You do not need to take it off for a short photo/video brake - just move it down under your chin. Julbo Sherpa isn't perfect - photochromic lenses and less bulky case could make it better (increasing its price as well). Julbo Sherpa is probably the best compromise between all glacier/mountain specs.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from mixed bag I really want to like these glasses because they get the job done in terms of reduce glare and cut UV rays. I've used them for skiing and mountaineering on ice/snow. The bummer is that the wrap around the ear design gives me a full on headache. Not sure why...just pushes on your head behind your ears and sparks one for me. Another downer is that they scratch way way too easily...to the point that it obstructs your vision. Lastly, I finally chucked them today because the cheap plastic pin came off of the side covering that attaches it to the frame. Not a solid design. I would make these suggestions to Julbo: fix the film so it doesn't scratch so easily, put in metal pins to hold the side shields, and forget the wrap around the ear design---make the glasses go straight over the ear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good snow glasses Been using these for ~10 yrs for ski touring & snowshoeing. Very good protection from extreme bright and wind. However, I first had to attach foam pads at nose bridge so they would not slide down nose (smaller female face, I guess), and I had to reattach side shields to frame using thread so they would not pop out--nearly impossible to fit pin back into hole on the trail. Have developed a small crack in one lens near nose, so probably time to get a new pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY good sunglasses I wear these at the beach and when fishing offshore. My work has me on high-rise rooftops which can blind in the same manner as a glacier, massive amounts of light reflected into your eyes from every direction. Living at high altitude left my eyes a bit sensitive to bright sunlight. I'm at sea level now but still find myself squinting a bit with normal sunglasses on a really bright day. With these glacier glasses on, my eyes and all the muscles in my face relax and my vision is much better despite the shading. I've owned these for a year and had no problems with scratching despite putting them in my pocket when indoors and several trips to the beach as well! Just take care of them as you would any pair of glasses. Clean them with the cloth provided and keep them in a case, don't just throw em around anywhere. I did go get a better fitting case for them. The one they came in seemed to squash them a bit. Manufacturer specifically admonishes you not to use the side shields when driving. They come on and off easily if you wish. Restricted peripheral vision might bother some, especially in urban rush hour traffic melee, but I've managed with no problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great glasses for bright days! Love these when working in the field especially in desert settings and where high reflective surfaces can create problems visually.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love em! Love these glasses! Ever since reading Into Thin Air and looking at pictures of mountaineers when I was a kid I KNEW I WANTED a pair of these glasses. Never thought they'd be so affordable. Now I wear them every day I am out in the backcountry. They work great! They don't fog up, offer amazing protection, the included strap gives good piece of mind(even though there is no way these glasses will ever fall off). A good solid piece of essential gear I'm glad to have with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these glasses! I have had several pairs of these glasses. I use them every day. They work great and are very comfortable for me. I use them so much that I always keep a backup pair ready to replace when the small pin breaks on the side protectors. Im so happy with them that I dont mind this design flaw. The price for the service is about right. I usually get about a years worth of daily use before this happens. I dont use the case because I find it hard to fit them back in. Im afraid that I would still break a pair that might cost three times as much.

The material around the nosepads is wearing through. Can this material be replaced without having to but a new set of glasses?
