Most logical pair of glacier glasses, the best.
These are honestly the most logical glacier glasses to get. They function phenomenally - like the best glasses on the market - and only cost ~$50. I don't see why you would pay more for any other glasses as these work perfectly. I've used these climbing 14ers, mountaineering, traveling over snow, and even driving cross country on a road trip in the bright summer sun. The lens provide incredible depth perception and block immense UV light. They are wide too so you get a large field of view. I love the side gaskets that protect the sides of your eyes from wind, blowing dust, and of course, light. They fit nicely under a helmet and with a beanie on. I've only used the eye glass retainer that it comes with a little bit. They are easily detachable/attachable and cinch up really nice. The only thing in the hook that hooks onto the end of the glasses can stick out a little bit and be a little bulky. Otherwise, these are durable, effective, perfectly priced, and I would highly recommend if you just need to get your hands on a pair of glacier glasses!
worked great on mt st helens
These "glacier glasses" worked great on Mt St Helens in early August. Nice fit on my XL-sized head although I had to un-bend the arms a little. I got the "Spectron 3" color/version which should be less light reducing than the Spectron4, but on the mountain seemed to work perfectly. I was skeptical about the plastic-y build but after wearing them for several hours I suddenly realized they were still comfortable and I hadn't been squinting AT ALL through the peak daylight in 5000-8500ft elevation. Only quibble, the edge of the side piece is a little sharp when the glasses are stored, so careful when you're rooting around in your bag for them. Also note the arms felt too tight out of the box so I used hot water (hotter than tap, but not boiling!) to reshape the curve of the arms to put less pressure on my big ol' head. This might void your warranty but is comparable to having a glasses shop adjust them for you.
Great for their intended purpose
I really like these glasses. Once I warmed the bridge up with hot water, I was able to shape them to fit my face comfortably (they are a bit snug out of the box if you don’t have a narrow face). They are lightweight and do a good job at reducing glare from snow. They also make windy days much more pleasant. Just don’t make the mistake of using them for driving…peripheral vision goes away (of course). I’d buy them again for sure.
All-day-comfortable, all-light-shading
The specs are comfortable to wear for a long period of time (loose enough earpieces that don't press or pinch), and they really do block a ton of light. I mean, you-can-almost-stare-at-the-noonday-sun amount of light. Not medical advice! They are so great that this is the third pair that I bought (first pair was collected by a rogue wave at the beach, second pair received a crippling gash thanks to a low-hanging sign, which I still use as my knockaround sunglasses). 5 stars, would buy again. Have bought again.
Good quality for the price but picked up skin oil
Quality materials and lenses but I ended up returning them after wearing them a few times. The glasses would come in contact with my forehead, just above the eyebrow, and get oil on them from my skin. I didn't want a pair of sunglasses that I had to clean every time I wore them. This may differ from one person to the next depending on your head shape a size. I have a small head.
Perfect glasses for female mountaineers
I LOVE these glasses! I have a small (female) face and most mountaineering glasses are designed for men so they’re too big for my face. But the Camino is perfect for smaller faces and the style looks great! I have 4 pairs of these now, one in Spectron 3 and others in Spector 4. They are so lightweight I was scared they’d break easily so I bought backup pairs because I am hard on sunglasses and found them on sale. Excellent price for the eye protection they provide, and they have held up to my rough use.. . So far I have only ruined one pair (after 6 years of use)by accidentally scratching them on lava rock when they were in a mesh pocket of my backpack. The Spectron 4’s are perfect for glaciers and snow travel, but are a little too dark for normal hiking in the forrest. The Spectron 3’s work great for non-snowy conditions and forrest hiking, as they allow much more light in.
Just wrong for me but maybe right for you
Nothing wrong with the store or product company. Once i tried them during the hike, the glasses just was ideal for me. Maybe because of asian face, they fogged up fast.
Nice Glasses, Too large
Nice Glasses, Too large for me. I found out that the Julbo company has a smaller version of this pair. REI doesn't have the smaller version called M. So I gave it a 4 because these glasses were too large for me. I did return these.
Cheap
Cheap, low quality, plastic lenses. Not double gradient.
Great glasses
They are perfect fi my needs and I wear them often
