Excellent Bike Stand

I have mounted this stand at the end of my workbench. There I have put road bikes, hybrids and mountain bikes on the stand to repair, clean up, put on new parts, etc. I did not like the idea of the standalone unit, did not look sturdy to me. This unit is sturdy. It holds the weight of a Trek 8 mountain bike with eases. It is strong enough to allow you to put the bike in different positions in order to get the best access to the area of the bike needing attention. I wanted to use it a few times before I commented; this stand will work for your workshop. It is a great addition to the workshop and means that you don't have to ask your spouse to come and hold the bike while you do something or put it back on the bike rack. It would be nice if it came with the bolts, but not hard to find them in my workshop. It is bolted into the 4 by 4 that supports the workbench, so not going anywhere anytime soon.

suggestions for use of stand

I own a prior version of this which I lent to a brother in law and never saw again. However my suggestion is this: bring this stand and a c clamp along when traveling. you can use the c clamp to quickly affix it to any picnic table and presto you have an instant work stand. Done with repairs just loosen the clamp, throw it back into your traveling tool bag and you're done. Very handy for on the road tune ups, adjustments and repairs.

Works Great

I did not want this mounted permanently,so I made a mount that I can bolt this to and mount it in my vise.Works great.Adjusted the rear derailer on my Grandson's bike, and cleanned and lubed my chain and lubed several places on my bike.Lot easier than fighting the bike on the ground!

Great stand

The Park Tool Bench Mount is a very useful piece to my new workbench. I have already enjoyed having it to make small adjustments to my bike and am looking forward to cleaning my drivetrain soon. Thanks REI for the easy purchase and delivery.

Very Good Portable Stand

With 8 bikes to maintain, I decided to start doing maintenence myself. I needed something to hold the bikes off the ground as I pulled wheels off, cleaned chains, etc. Rather than buy a full stand and then having to find a place to store it, I decided on this model after reading the reviews. I mounted the stand on a piece of wood and clamp the wood to my workbench. Without any strain, it holds the bikes in a firm position without any movement. The unit holds the bike in any position. 5 Stars for Quality. I deducted one star because of the following: - Since one side of the bike is against the workbench, you can only work on one side of the bike at a time. You have to take the bike off and spin it around to work on the other side. - The unit can swivel to allow you to pull the front or rear wheel away from the bench slightly, however you have to loosen two allen head screws. It should have had a crank handle same as the other two adjustment places. - The unit should extend out further from the workbench to keep the pedals from hitting it when turning the pedals. If you have space to open and store a full stand, go with it. If not, this model is an excellent second choice.
