Wheel Dimensions 7 x 1.65 inches
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great I'm very impressed with this Quantum product. I heard how other carts would collapse unexpectedly when jolted, or the kayak would fall off the cart. With the Quantum cart, it's very secure when transporting a kayak, especially with the line that hooks onto the cockpit collar. It's small enough that it will fit in most holdings, but can be broken down if space is really needed. It might not do well in heavy sand, but I didn't want a cart with huge tires and frame that is hard to transport or I have to spend too much time breaking it down. I have a 17.5' Eddyline Nighthawk and this cart does the trick. I love the simplicity of the cart. Very easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little cart This little cart attaches easily on the stern end of my 12 foot Pungo and works beautifully. Pick up the front bow loop and roll the boat and cart down a gravel path for 1/3 mile with no problem. Slips into the dry well without taking the wheels off. Dirt and mud hoses off easily. Unless you need to cross loose sand or really rough terrain this one should work well. Simple design. Logical to attach. Put the hook over the back of the cockpit to cinch the straps down. My boat is 49 pounds empty and with day supplies probably 65 pounds-this little scooter is perfect. Would not consider a bigger or more expensive style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works, but... It works. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Not difficult to attach, holds on to the kayak just fine. HOWEVER...it is NOISY! The hard plastic wheels on pavement or even gravel is very loud. Imagine me, rising before the sun to be on the water at sunrise and rolling through the campground with this. The path to the launch is a paved and gravel bike path. I woke EVERYONE up. Moved to the dirt without much difference. Had a great paddle, but did a lot of apologizing throughout the day. I won't be using this again. Getting one with inflatable and quieter tires. For the noise reason, I give it a 3 of 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Product I bought this for a 14’6” Old Town canoe. The canoe weighs 75 LBS and this cart rolls filled with gear easily. I believe I can put as much weight as I can hold and this cart will not break. The factory strap was a little short so I called the guy that makes the cart; Bill. The owners manual does not have a website or phone number but it’s easy to find online. I explained the issue and 2 days later I received two new straps in the mail. This company has great customer service and it was a pleasure speaking with the owner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good compromise First thing a little research taught me: every cart is a trade-off, none are without some disadvantage. I was looking for light and quick to attach, and I got it with this one. It's designed for kayaks, but works on my Wenonah solo canoe, the hook catching the thwart just as securely as a kayak cockpit. The deep, narrow design means attachment will be near the end of the boat, which means the fulcrum will never be as effective as a cart that strapped on near the middle. I can live with that, as the strap-on design is secure enough for most places I'll be going. My biggest gripe is the small wheels which will limit use on deep sand or soft dirt. Overall, if this cart stands up to normal wear it will be well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Opens up more trips for me! This cart works perfect on everything I have, I have everything from tandem sit on tops, 15 foot sea kayaks and a 12 foot canoe and it makes transporting each one of those simple as can be!!. With some simple rigging I have even been able to stack two boats on top of eat other! There are some long hikes to the docks around this area that were In no way possible to do by my self and I do it all the time now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little piece of equipment This cart was just what I was looking for. I don't consider myself a weakling but lugging my 12' kayak from parking lot to launch point was difficult. The cart is easy to attach and makes transporting the kayak a breeze. Even going uphill is no problem. It fits behind my seat ( a space I didn't use for anything else) so I don't lose any leg room or storage space. The only problem I could see would be using over very rough or rocky terrain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed I needed a simple solution for toting my 73 pound kayak (a Perception Prodigy 2 14.5') down to the river when I take it solo and this cart has performed excellently so far. I have pulled it over muddy and gravel terrain and even up and down shallow steps without a problem. The longest distance has been about 50 yards and the ground is usually pretty even. I would not suggest running with it or pulling it behind a bike. For day trips the fact that the cart does not fold for storage into the dry well is not an issue but if I did need to stow it then it will fit behind the rear seat. The design is intuitive and easy to apply. Takes about the same amount of time as it does for me to put on the cockpit cover. Bottom line - perfect for my recreational applications.

Considering this cart for my Oceans sit a top kayak. Two uses, help move from truck to put in. Mounting kayak on cart for easy transportation in truck bed. Questions how long does it take to dissemble/assemble and what are dimensions dissembled?

Asked by: Sailorjazz
The quick-release pins on both of the wheels will allow you to disassemble/assemble the cart in a matter of seconds. The 12 x 10 x 10 inch dimensions on our specs page are the dimensions without wheels on. The wheels will measure out at 7 x 1.65 inches.

Would this be suitable to store a kayak on land near the lake if the other end of the kayak is propped up on something else (e.g., a cinder block or wooden bench)?

Asked by: TravelsWithDogs
This cart is designed for short jaunts over moderate terrain, however, you can leave the kayak in it with the other end propped for short-term storage.

How much weight is the cart capable of carrying?

Asked by: Kevlar
The manufacturer unfortunately does not list a maximum weight capacity for the Stern Wheels Cart. Having said that, a customer reviewed the cart on REI.com and stated that their 14'6" canoe weighing 75 pounds works perfectly.
