Temp management requires constant attention.

Listen it works well enough. I've baked rolls and cakes and breads and pretzels in it. (pie is on my to do list). My major critique is that the thermometer is very slow to react. If I've got the oven hot and open the door I'd expect the thermometer to drop pretty quickly, but it doesn't. It also doesn't react quickly to ordinary temperature change within the box. This puts quite a burden on the baker to act as the thermostat within pretty wide error bars. Consequently I find I cannot leave the oven for more than a couple minutes while baking if I want to keep the temp within say 30 degrees of target.

Really excited to add to our skoolie kitchen

We got the coleman camping stove for our skoolie. We tried it out immediately with cinnamon rolls and we have some tips. We got 2 fire bricks to evenly distribute the heat, thanks to a previous review. What we didnt do was preheat the oven slowly. I cranked that baby up to 400 degrees as fast as possible, and as soon as i put the rolls in it was a fight to keep the temp up. Thats my fault. Because i didnt allow the oven to truly preheat, my rolls had to cook for longer and they got dry. Thats my fault.

Compact and easy to use

I've often wanted one of those fancy camp stove/oven combos. Then I saw Coleman's camp oven that folds flat and compact and uses your existing stove. For our maiden voyage with the camp stove, I whipped up some Mediterranean Stuffed Bell Peppers, a fancy meal for being out in the 'wilderness'. How it went: The whole thing is metal and as common sense would tell you, the outside get's hot. I thought the door knob would be hot too, fumbled with turning it using pot-holders, then found out it's not hot. Adjusting your desired temp is all controlled by your stove flame. I did not find it difficult to adjust to the 400 degrees I needed. I slightly over cooked my first pan, the bottom a bit over-done. Second pan came out great. Learning how to use it... My takeaways is it's compact and light, and allows us to easily "bake", warm, etc. The photos made me feel I was making a Coleman commercial!!!

Campsite baking is the best!

We received this as a Christmas present. It is great to bake pizza, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, cornbread, etc. at camp or in RV. It does crowd into second burner space on stoves even though you only use one burner. Great to have a single burner stove just for this! I rotate food half way through to help with even browning and rising. We love this oven!!

Excellent portable convenient oven.

To start: this oven won’t be your consistent well working oven at home. The temperature regulation does require attention. And I have found items “bake” a little different. So I recommend using it a few times at home to get a feel for it to make adjustments to your process. Or just plan on needing to make adjustments while camping. With that said: I love this oven. I had one many years ago when I lived in a remote wilderness location and needed an oven for baking. I have since bought one for myself for camping and emergency baking at home. I find I need to monitor the temperature and adjust as needed. Also, the items I have cooked visually appear different when fully cooked. I burned a thing of corn bread the first time because it didn’t “look” fully cooked just by peaking in. So check more closely on your items. Also. Use the middle rack location. With this I have been able to get good corn bread and good rolls while camping. I also made some apple cinnamon muffins. Although it is not perfect and you have to monitor closely….I still five it 5 stars for portability and convenience and effectiveness once you get a system down. Oven is 12”x12”x12” when opened. 12”x”12x3 when folded shut. I use an 8x8 pan for cornbread. From back to door, 8” is about as big as you can go. Youprobably can do 8x10 max. Also. A smaller 6 cupcake pan works in here. And most bread loaf pans

A Classic Design that still fits the bill

I used one of these that I inherited from my Grandfather for many family camping trips. I remember him and his two burner Coleman stove with that oven from our camping trips in the 1950's and 60's. It gave great service to my entire family until my son-in-law backed over it several years ago. I immediately bought this replacement to use with my Coleman #428 three burner dual fuel stove, and it is identical to it's predecessor in quality and convenience. Nothing like fresh baked biscuits, cinnamon rolls, corn bread, cookies, pies, and even pizza while car camping to keep my grand-kid's loving the outdoors even though I ban all of their electronics from our trips.

This is a great oven.

It works great. I placed 2 fire bricks in the bottom to give it some weight and to even out the heat while cooking on a 2 burner camp propane stove. I have been amazed how it has been so easy to adjust the heat on the stove to get the variable heat levels in the oven. I also added another rack so I could cook 2 items at a time. I saw another review where they had added one and it worked great. I ame so glad I purchased this camping oven.

Excellent I love it

Some time ago I bought a Camp Oven, we did not go out very often, but I discovered that it not only serves me to go on vacation but also in my Panetones business, as it is a bread that needs a lot of time to ferment the flour I put it on a warmer food I put it in slow warm and it turned out that I was looking for. Thank you very much Coleman

Easy Bake Oven on Steriods

If you have a two burner stove and you want to have a few laughs when car camping, break out this puppy and make yourself some TV dinners, Tater Tots or frozen lasagna. I promise you the reaction from your neighbors or camp mates will almost be as good as when I brought Chinese take-out to a campground. My buddy used his to make pizza from scratch in the middle of nowhere and we've made Poppin Fresh biscuits, cinnamon rolls and other frozen goodies when we decide to break out the ovens and have a few laughs baking. They work pretty good although are hardly worry free or self cleaning but who wants a Viking range when you are camping! FYI - If you need a pan for those Cinnabon buns, look no further than the throw away 10" X 10" aluminum baking pans in the supermarket.
