We have used these for 2 hikes so far, fit and quality is top notch, and its the perfect day packs, if there is any thing that could be improved upon there’s the loops on the side could be a tad longer and trekking pole holders are not having enough support high enough to hold them securely to the side with out flapping, strap pockets are not big enough for phones, and the women version pockets are smaller (car keys is a better fit) I read all the reviews and I was aware of the shortcomings prior to ordering, how often don’t you have to modify gear to suit your needs anyway therefore 4 stars. I would highly recommend
To say I have a backpack for any circumstance is an understatement. I have way TOO many backpacks, and I love having just the pack for my needs. The Pursuit 15 hits an excellent sweet spot for so many different activities. Great day pack for quick hikes, bikes, climbs, etc. Very well thought out design and amazingly comfortable with the wide vest straps. Not many flaws I can pick on, my only wish is that the side pockets could accommodate water bottles easier, but given the ample room for a hydration pack, it easily makes up for it. Homerun from Black Diamond, I won't even bother with other packs at this point! P.S. sign me up to be a gear tester Black Diamond!
I’ve been looking for a comfortable day pack for quite some time and I’ve finally found it. I have chronic upper back/shoulder pain, so have been in search of a pack that properly distributes weight to the hips. After a few wears, I can say that this pack does the trick. This pack has tons of main compartment room and convenient pockets on the straps. I wish the outer side pockets were designed for a larger water bottle, but the outer pocket in the back middle supports this function, plus there is a compartment for a camel pack. Love this pack!
I like bags. I own many bags for different uses. I recently picked up a daypack from a very over priced and over hyped ultralight brand, and on the first hike found it was not comfy and while very light, proved to have difficult access. Returned and picked up the Pursuit 15 (like I should have in the first place). This pack is only ounces heavier than my previous ‘ultralight’ pack, and is crammed with features I was previously missing, and honestly would expect from any hiking pack. Comfort of the running vest style straps is unmatched, and it hugs your body to provide great support. Obviously isn’t for carrying too much weight, but absolutely holds it own for a multi use day pack. Will continue to stand by the Black Diamond products I own.
I'm very picky about backpacks and I've bought and sold a lot. This is one of my favorites for scrabbles and light fast adventures. I should have bought the long version, but even so this is a very comfortable bag. I'll defiantly buy the new season model in large back length Great layout and holds its shape very well. Good pocket layout. My only complaint is that the straps to sinch down the bag run on the inside of the main compartment and catch items as you put them in and out, isn't a huge concern but is annoying.
1. easy access to bottles, food, small gear without taking the pack off, 2. water bottle and hydration pack flexibility and convenience, 3. exceptional stuff capacity inside and on outside stretch pockets and 4. most important, waist belt to distribute load across shoulders, back and hips. I've been fast packing, doing expeditions and multi-day ultra-distance races for many years and have tried all the traditional brands of packs (UD, Nathan, Salomon, UltraSpire, Orange Mud, etc...) but THIS is the one - the keeper.
I purchased this for my Grand Canyon rim to rim thru hike. I carried about 5 pounds of food, a 2 L Camelback, and 1 L water bottles on both sides in the stretchy pockets. I was also able to attach my InReach to the front shoulder strap easily. It does a great job distributing weight to your hips, even with the lighter waist straps. Shockingly so. I was prob at about 25 pounds in it, def pushing the capacity, but it held up like a champ and never gave me any discomfort on my lumbar spine. Can't recommend enough.
This backpack has quickly become my go-to for outdoor adventures! It’s lightweight, comfortable, and the perfect size for day trips. The design is sleek yet durable, with plenty of compartments to keep everything organized. I especially appreciate the hydration sleeve and the easy access pockets. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a versatile, reliable backpack!
The pack is great overall but has one major flaw there is no way to attach my BD Alpine cork properly to it. The side pockets work for the Z pole but when the poles are a bit longer they won't hold the pole well in place and they will dangle to the side. Also the tightening system of those side cords on the side of the bag is super clunky and needs revision.
I was looking for something to use on long demanding dayhikes and this suits my needs perfectly. Strikes a nice balance between technical features and simplicity in design. I was worried my phone wouldn't fit in the front after reading reviews but I had 0 issues fitting my iphone 14 with a 'commuter' Otterbox. Very, very happy with my purchase.
