Great fitting, comfortable shoes that look great and feel wonderful. Goretex a bonus for those wet toes in the morning. Toasty and dry. Nobody should buy them so there are more pairs for me!!!!
I purchased the Hierro V9 in the 2E wide version at my local Shoe Clinic in Invercargill after trying on multiple brands that could not accommodate my wide feet. Comfort, stability and fit felt excellent in store and I was already confident after thrashing a previous pair of New Balance trail runners in the past. One short run jog around the town flood bank trail and it was off to Queenstown. For the shoes first proper outing I climbed Ben Lomond and Bowen Peak (formed trails, about 1700m vertical gain combined) then went off trail for a steep 1000m+ vert descent through tussock, rock and scrub. The shoes were excellent on trail and safe enough to keep me on my feet during the sketchy downhill. No visible damage. Of note, I found a 12mm matagouri bush spike lodged in the heel that did not penetrate the sole, so excellent protection. My shins were bleeding though! Very pleased with the shoe and would recommend.
Great shoes for the first 3 walks, however after doing approximately 18 miles the goretex, failed and I ended up with wet feet in both shoes, I paid top money ready for the wet grass as the winter has now nearly arrived, disappointed they failed so quick, they only let in a little water but it was enough to soak my feet and turn them cold
The name says it all, NEW BALANCE—if you want to have the perfect balance, you just have to walk in these HIERRO sneakers. They’re the best! I bought them for my husband, and he’s very happy with his gift.
Fantastic shoe. Very comfortable. Solid base. Great color. Very happy with the purchase
My biggest issue is that I have a high instep and the sewn down tongue causes uncomfortable pressure and an ill fit. They really should specify in the product description whether the tongue is stitched like this so people like me can choose another model. Better, stop doing it!!! It causes as many problems as it potentially solves. I’ve previously bought the non Goretex version of this shoe and found it very comfortable. The sole both on this and the previous model tends to make some noise on non trail surfaces that may annoy people.
Possibly the worst running shoe I've bought in the last five years. I've had the previous three versions of the Hierro, but this is just a completely different shoe. The massive increase in stack height makes it extremely unstable on all but the smoothest of trails. If you have the slightest bit of pronantion, avoid. The worst thing is that, to test a trail shoe, you've got to run on a trail. Inevitably, that means it's going to get dirty...and then impossible to return. Really don't know what I'm going to use it for.
These are the best walking trainers I have every had. They feel supportive, and are so comfortable. I have always had to wear in walking trainers, but not with these. Three walks, 4, 7 and 12Kms and I had no rubbing, heat or sore spots on my feet. Incredible. The cushioning is thick and takes a bit of getting used too, but was a delight. The soles have great traction, even on icy paths. Very happy.
I shoot for a daily walk almost year round, 4-7 miles, been holding a 4 mile per day average going on 3 years. At 6-3 180# I wear out shoes in 3-4 months. After 3 months with v9's, so far so good. Two notable v9 benefits; the waffle sole definitely adds traction on all surfaces and seems to add durability to the soles, the gore tex offers added dryness when walking in wet weather. Very comfortable and very durable.
Wide feet also have wide toes - your wides are essentially high-volume, not wide width - it seems you don't make wide midsole/outsole molds so everyone's wide foot will get pinched at the toe. Norda 001 and 005 standard width are both more accommodating than your X-Wide/4E. I also find, like another reviewer, something in the shape/construction is propelling my forefoot to roll inwards and spill over the midsole.
