Lasted 4 days!

I had high hopes for these shoes as they were well rated and a women’s size UK 9.5 which is hard to find. They were very comfortable and didn’t require any break-in period. I wore them hiking for 4 days, during which the cushioned lining ripped all the way through on both shoes; on the outside near the ankle and inside on the heel. I have never had a pair of shoes deteriorate this quickly. Disappointed is an understatement, these shoes are ready for the bin and they’re almost brand new!

Wanted to love them but quickly disappointed...

Bought these shoes three weeks ago and spent the first two weeks breaking them in across city parks before spending last week walking part of the South West Coast Path with them - during this week long hike the shoe fabric tore in three places! Two tears are inside in the heel area where the two different types of material were stitched together (which now presses hard surface underneath the fabric against my heel, even painfully piercing through hydrocolloid blister patches), and there's also one external tear near the toes area (which would likely compromise the waterproofing of the shoe). I was really hoping these shoes would last for many years and hikes!...

Perfect at first but wont last long

I purchased it in mid Aug, It is very comfortable and the only shoes that I can wear everyday for walking due to my heel pain, but I am very disappointed because the fabric on top and inside the shoes came off after 3 months, and make it uncomfortable to wear them now.

Great shoes not a single blister over 300 miles

I bought these replacement shoes after my Sense Rides wore away quite quickly around the heel. I am very heavy footed (for a relatively small person). I wore them for a few weeks for general walking and a few practice hikes prior to setting off on the Pennine Way on 4th May. 17 days later and whilst looking a little bit worse for wear - wear well they did. I’ve had trouble with blisters in the past but not with these (and my Bridgedale socks tbf). Absolutely love them - I know I need to clean them but then they won’t look the same!

They aren't my favorites anymore

I purchased the X Ultra 4 Gore-Tex shoes in July last year, and overall, I was satisfied with their quality and comfort. They provided a comfortable fit, allowing me to walk a considerable distance of about 150 kilometers. However, I encountered a significant issue: the shoes started to tear on both sides, resulting in them losing their waterproof feature. To my disappointment, I found that many other customers have experienced the same problem with this model, as indicated by various reviews. Considering the price point and the reputation of the Salomon brand, I expected the shoes to maintain their quality and durability.

Light as a feather, grippy soles, comfy from day 1

These hiking shoes are very lightweight & flexible but offer great protection from all the elements. I’ve worn them for snowy hikes with microspikes and they’ve kept my feet warm, they’ve gone on rocky scrambles and sandy desert hikes. Just an all around great shoe. They did stretch out a bit over time, however. Steep downhill is no issue with these. The Quicklace system is also a real winner.

Tongue will not stay in the right place

After a minute of walking the tongue goes to the side and is very uncomfortable. no mater how many times I would reposition it, it won't stay where it should. The design must be wrong. See the pictures and ware on the side of the tongue as is always rubbing against the shoe laces. I really like this shoes, they are super comfortable it’s just this tongue so annoying.

My first hiking shoe ever...and I like it!

I'm normally a boot person but have been shoe-curious for a while. Upon receiving them in the mail, first I was excited to see the beautiful blush color in person, then I was stoked to feel my foot slide right into comfort. I started using them on short and flat trails, then on my neighborhood walks, and now I just wear them pretty much everywhere because they are easy to slip on, look stylish, and provide me comfort and support I can enjoy daily :) Giving it 4 stars because it's my first shoe so I don't have a comparison point, but also because it took about twi 1mi walks to break them in.

Cheap shoe

Bought these as a replacement for my previous pair of Gore-Tex Ultra 4s where the welts came adrift from the uppers after approximately 7 months of general walking use. My new, supposedly improved X Ultra 4 Gore-Tex shoes arrived promptly. The look and feel of the shoe is cheap. The padding around the collar//heel area is thin, feels cheap and I think will flatten to nothing after only a couple of wears. The stitched tongue is too short for the shoe to be comfortable, and the tongue in my right shoe moved over so far to the right that I had to cut my walk short because it was so uncomfortable despite stopping twice to straighten it. I shall be contacting Salomon re returning this pair. Not a good shoe. The pictures show the short tongues on both shoes and the way the tongue has shifted as far as possible on the right shoe. I feel that Salomon should have resolved production quality issues for the previous Ultra 4 before trying to ‘improve’ the shoe - which it hasn’t.
