I had an old pair of X-ultra that I loved. Wore it almost everyday, both in the city & when I lived in Banff Forrest the whole summer. Now, I found the perfect replacement. I tested wearing it while in the city. At first it felt tight but after sometime it adjusted and it’s really comfortable, stable, and has great support. I look forward to wearing this shoes during the summer season on my hiking trips.
One of the loops that hold the laces broke on BOTH shoes during the same hike. I also saw 2 reviews with the same experience on the non Goretex model of this shoe. These shoes are too unreliable to buy again. I only have 120 miles on this pair. I wore out 2 pairs of Salomon ultra 3s and neither of them had this issue.
I bought these shoes for a hiking trip to Pico Duarte in the Dominican Republic, where the terrain is very diverse—mud, rocks, and river crossings. They performed extremely well throughout the hike. The grip is excellent, especially in muddy sections, and they are truly water-resistant. At one point I stepped into a river and my foot got wet, but the shoes dried surprisingly fast while walking—about 10 minutes. They also provide great forefoot support on rocky descents, and the ankle fit adds extra stability on uneven terrain. One thing that really impressed me is that I only started wearing them four days before the trip and didn’t get any blisters or discomfort. They break in very quickly and adapt well to your feet. Lightweight, comfortable, and very reliable for mixed terrain. I definitely recommend them.
I got this pair before starting a nice travel through Brazil; I needed confort and resistance, even though the shoes were precisely what I wanted, good for both the city and the country side, they went down hill pretty fast! The laze system failed incredibly fast, within 2 months of use. That´s a pretty low lifespan for such a pricy shoes, the sell it as shoes for an adventurer lifestyle, but they can´t endure as promised. The style, the grip, and the waterproof are pretty good, but the laze system and the general fabric are quite week and disappointing.
Bought these as an every day dog walking shoe. I tried a few styles but I found these the comfiest by far - just wide enought and great arch support (lots of other Salomon styles I find too narrow). Love the style and think they’re really versatile. First wear on dewy grass my feet got quite wet which worried me. But worn them now nearly every day for 3 weeks and it’s not happened again?! My 4 year old hiking boot version have held up well so I’m hoping for the same with these. I would have liked to try the green but shame they don’t stock in store, I got the cream and they’re nice but perhaps not practical once it gets muddy
Great grip. Never slipped/tripped once doing all 5 national parks and hard long trails (50 miles in 4 days) in Utah. Only complaint is these are very flat shoes and if you are hiking quite a bit you’re going to need better insoles. My feet were killing me until I ended up shoving folded up napkins to provide some arch/foot support. I’ve never had foot pain with all the running and hiking I’ve done with about the same mileage and intensity. Just need better cushion and these would be perfect.
I love these shoes! They’re fully waterproof, so walking in water is no problem. Also super easy and quick to wear no need to tie anything, which makes them perfect for outdoor adventures. Highly recommend!
I have narrow feet and I have a hard time finding shoes. After trying on several models by Salomon and other brands, these seem to be fitting.
I wore these for the first time on a rainy hike and they were incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, they didn’t stay dry for long once the rain picked up. My feet ended up completely soaked, to the point where I could hear water sloshing around inside the shoes. I expected better performance from a Gore-Tex hiking shoe, especially in wet conditions. It’s possible gaiters would have helped, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t rely on these for rainy hikes. They’re comfortable and look great, but I was disappointed with how wet my feet became.
I've been buying Salomon Gore-Tex hiking shoes for years, always in the same size. They always fit well and I love the waterproofness. However, I bought a new pair online a few weeks ago and developed severe pain in my foot - there seemed to be less space in the toe area. I compared my previous shoes with these and it does look like they've narrowed up the toe area a bit, just enough to be uncomfortable. Very disappointed. I can only get these online because of where we live, and they've been worn, so this was a huge waste of good money.
