I love the headstrap and the way it easily adjusts and the adjustment remains in place instead of stretching back out which is an issue I have had with other headlamps. The brightness is great and having the red light is great for nighttime checking in on my chickens without blinding them and also for night time photography. The light tilts upwards in addition to downwards, which is unique compared to most other headlamps I have seen that only tilt in a downward motion. Although a bit pricey, I recommend this for anyone wanting bright light, red light function, a best-in-class headstrap, and lightweight.
Just WOW!!!!!!!!!! Coming out of an emergency 14 miles in pitch black already having done 16 miles, thru creeks and canyons in Utah. Turned this on and literally beam was like having daylight in front of me and about 5 - 7 feet wide. Used the reactive mode thing which REALLY saves a TON on battery life and about 4 1/2 hours later emerged out on a road where EMS picked me up. Will not go anywhere remote without it now, unless you are willing to REALLY up the weight you cannot come close to this level of lumination. Very easy interface, yeah I know I sound like a commercial but yeah this thing is incredible. Good Luck and YMMV 💖
Nice upgrade on the last version with the USB-C charging port and an improved headband. This light is super powerful, and I like that you can easily switch between reactive mode and the normal mode for constant lighting. The switching back and fourth makes this headlamp verisitle for skiing (regular mode) or trail running on dirt (reactiv mode). Battery lasts a long time on reactive mode.
4.5 Stars. I had the chance to use this headlight recently on a trip to Navaho Lake as I missplaced my Storm 400. I am really impressed with the workmanship - it's made in Hungary. Pros: - 5 Green LED lights that temporarily show power levels don't irritate my vision like the blue ones do on my Storm 400. - The strap stays on really well -The light adjusts up and down so I can have more control over angles and use around my neck (avoiding blinding ppl). -The reactive lighting was nice. I used it when going into a cave and I noticed how the light adjusted based on if I was looking further away or up close. -It includes a bag that allows it to be converted into a "lantern" which is a neat effect. -It wasn't too hard to get to the red light setting, but not perfect. -I love that the battery can be removed/easily replaced and that it comes with the battery. Cons/Things to improve -Make a dedicated red light button or have a memory option. I also wish the red light was brighter. My GF has the Black Diamond Spot and her red light was about 3 times brighter.
This headlamp aspires to be great, but ultimately the auto-dim and light sensor features cause it to be functionally unusable in variable light conditions. Specifically, despite a full battery this product has randomly turned itself off/heavily flickered in the following conditions: - Reflecting off of hi-vis road signage - From the light of other runners' headlamps in my group - A car passing in the opposite direction (super safe and awesome) - Reflecting off my own breath on a cool/humid morning Ultimately, on suburban greenways and sidewalks this light is unreliable even when not in auto-dim mode. It's a significant step down from the Petzl Actik Core I'd previously used running and I absolutely would not recommend such a frustrating product at this price point. It needs work.
Powerful reactive lighting to solve for any application. You can actually feel the heat of the light when aimed at your palm on high settings, very impressive light. Lots of flexibility with settings, depending on what you need. I love the addition of the red light and the usb-c charging.
If you know how to use this lamp, you’ll love it. I think petzl has perfected it, with this one. Love the red light strobe and the regular lighting modes. The bad reviews are most likely users that don’t know how to operate the lamp properly. Highly recommended!
Top notch headlamp. Very bright and excellent battery. Comfortable fit as well. Absolutely perfect although I wish it had red light mode. Owned it for 2+ years and it’s just like new
If you just need one headlamp for everything, go with that one
This thing is very bright, and the reactive lighting feature is amazing. You get brighter/narrower light when you look down a road or trail, and a dimmer/wider light when you look down at a map or something in your hand. Really excellent.
