Your first instinct may say that’s really expensive for a thin merino hoody. Then you buy it and realize when you wear it for days at a time without washing it ultimately replaces multiple clothing items, it’s actually a bargain. Fantastic piece that I now own in multiple colors. Perfect as a base layer or (as I typically wear it) a standalone piece for runs ranging from 25-45° weather. Incredibly light for the warmth it provides. Keeps warm when wet. Happy to pay the extra $20 to have the hood as an option. (Hood falls flat enough to both be bothered when you throw another layer on) Fast drying. No stink. Literal perfect do it all item. Gun to my head, I can only pick one activewear piece to own… this is it.
Own two of these and they are The Bomb! Comfortable stand-alone or as a base layer. Heat-regulating from 35 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Wore mine recently on continuous flights from Denver to Argentina and back and was never too hot or too cold while on planes. Can be worn repeatedly even for longer trail runs without stinking.
Wore this piece as a base layer for 5 days straight during a running/camping trip. literally didn't take it off, I even wore it to sleep. Didn't chafe, didn't smell, kept me warm even when it was sweaty & wet
I wore my hoodie today with 20 degree temperatures and howling winds! I used it as my mid layer and didn't get cold, as I was in the elements of 5 hours! It was nice that the hood fit over my helmet!
This is my go to hiking shirt, especially on days where it's a little cooler. The trim fit helps wick moisture away and the wool blend is so comfy next to the skin. I have worn this shirt now for hundreds of miles on trail and have no signs of wear in the shoulders or back. It has really impressed me how well it's held up. I've been hesitant to use it rock climbing, as I am not sure if it would hold up with abrasion on the rock. Definitely pricer for a hiking shirt, but has held up really well and would say it was worth investing in. Overall I am very happy with this product and could see myself picking up another once this one gets too many pin hole burns and abuse, especially if they ever make one that comes in Bordeaux.
This is one of the most comfortable wool shirts I've ever had! It's soft and lightweight, it's warm enough for activity in shoulder seasons or cool mornings/evenings in summer. Could even be a baselayer for colder weather. Works decent for travel too. So comfortable I also wear it all the time around the house and for casual wear in regular life. It's a great option for hiking in cooler, shoulder season weather as it's warmer but not too warm. It does have more of a tighter, athletic fit, mostly in the arms so just keep that in mind depending on what you want to use it for. So incredibly soft and comfortable though that I bought a second within a couple months of owning my first and I now have 3 of these things. Absolutely love them!
Over the last few weeks this has become my new favourite piece of clothing. Old school Arc’teryx quality to detail and thoughtful design towards a piece of outdoor apparel. I’ve been worried lately to see the trend towards more street style cuts and styles from my favourite brand; this shirt restores my faith that Arc’teryx remains an outfitter to those who spend most of their time in the mountains. I wish the forage colour was available, I’d grab that in a heartbeat! Love the earthy colours better than the others.
The Ionia line-up is sneeeeeaky versatile! The hoody is my go-to as a Spring/Summer cover anytime I face changing conditions and cooler temps. It is lightweight & breathable enough that I can use it as a sun cover in warmer temps, but also adds the perfect amount of warmth when the weather shifts to cooler temps. It is also the first thing I grab when I'm looking for a lighter alternative to my Rho Merino base layer in the Winter. Has been through multiple washes & adventures and is still going strong!
I bought this few weeks ago for hiking, backpacking and training for mountaineering expeditions in the Himalaya. So far I am impressed with the feel, comfort and the quality. Highly breathable and long sleeves that covers my wrist. . I am 6'2 always hard to buy that covers my wrist and slim fit. After I used this for few times, I got second piece the following week! I can't wait to use it up in 6000 meters elevation and see how it performs.
This top is perfect. The material was my priority as I live in the PNW, and merino makes life warmer and dry. This top fits true to size. I buy large in most tops with other Mfg’s and the Large with ARCTERYX was perfect size. Has a little stretch, but fits slim. The neck on the hood has enough length to pull up onto face easy and provides good coverage. I could live in this garment. It’s my go to! My favorite
