The Rho Merino Wool Zip Neck is an outstanding base layer. The merino wool feels luxuriously soft against the skin and offers impressive warmth without bulk. Paired with a Proton mid layer and a Beta shell, it kept me perfectly comfortable in sub-zero temperatures while remaining breathable during activity. The fit is precise, the construction is impeccable, and every detail feels thoughtfully designed. It is warm, comfortable, and built to perform in demanding conditions. I highly recommend it to anyone who values both comfort and performance in their cold-weather gear.
Have got 2 others like this. The fit is great for an xl and long enough for me being tall. Few other manufacturers make tops long enough. Material is soft but durable. It fiesnt l9se its shape on washing as per instructions. Just the tight amount of warmth when active, but needs another layer on top if in the house. Good for temperature range 5 c to 14 c as a base layer and not too much sweat. Dries fairly quickly and the 1/2 zip is great for letting off heat. Merino is slightly better at breathing but not as cosy as Torrent. This and the rho 1/2 zip are my go to base layers in autumn and winter. Merino when its milder. Rho Torrent 1/2 zip when cooler. Brilliant colour carob. Hope Arc make a Hallam crew in carob one day.
Having paid such a high price for this item, I was fully commitment to its care. I diligently followed the provided washing instructions. However, regrettably, the sweater has stretched to an extent that renders it irreparable. Despite my initial investment, the quality of the product did not hold up as expected, resulting in a disappointing experience. * For some reason I don' have option to upload photos on this form. (???)
Not sure how folks wound up with some of the complaints in other reviews, but I certainly haven't. It fits well (I'd like it a tiny bit tighter, but it's certainly still fitted), is fantastically soft and comfortable on skin, hasn't stretched in the least bit despite numerous washes, and has become a favorite base layer alongside a few from SmartWool. I'll be getting other colors, too.
Glad that Arcteryx brought the merino baselayers back Great fit, good length and a nice stretch..........with the added bonus of a quarter zip The weight of this one feels like approx 200 Suggest adding a couple different weights (150 and 250) and a few other colors
Bought this and the Rho Hybrid. The Rho Hybrid is awesome - one of the best shirts I've used. This Merino version is awful though - seems like a low quality wool - very itchy and is making my skin break out in hives.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super comfortable, great fit. The collar is excellent, just the right length and a snug but comfortable fit around the neck.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great casual garment and super warm. I have many other Arcteryx items all have performed exemplary.
Super comfortable and light base layer or only layer on the warm hikes. .
Warm and fit perfect (Size L). Breathable and warm even in colder days.
