Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.
Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:
Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.
Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

The fabric tore where it joins the sole - within 2 months of walking on flat paved roads. Also - Toe box not wide enough. This is my second pair of Altra shoes with quality problems - fabric tearing. REI needs to stop carrying this brand - These are expensive shoes with ridiculous quality.
LOVE these shoes. Love the zero drop and the wide toe box and the comfort of Altras. Sadly, they developed a hole through the top mesh after 4 months of casual use for neighborhood walks and working out at the gym. Hope to try another pair and maybe this was just a fluke?
While fairly comfy, I would not recommend these. Parts of the sole started falling off within a couple weeks of wearing them. Poor quality.
I have had several models of Altras, this is my first pair of Torin 6. I have used them indoors at the physical therapy clinic where are work. The sole of both shoes is pealing off after only a couple of months. I won’t purchase these again.
These are okay but fit nothing like previous models. heel cup is very low, mid foot is much tighter. The construction seems okay, but the sole is about the same quality as previous versions of torin or escalate where the rubber starts delaminating early. I would not buy again. These might work for some folks, but not if you're looking for replacement for older Torins or any other already that I have worn. I'll be trying Topos for my next road pair of runners.
I’m a big fan of the Torin, but not this one!! The fit was fine, the quality was terrible!! I just used it as a walking shoe, after a month it started falling apart!! Very poor quality!!
I've had my Torin 6s for the better part of a year now and I've used them as mix of mainly running with some gym time in there too. I'm not a great runner my any means which my average run being around 4 miles a couple of times a week but I really like zero drop shoes so Altra made the most sense. I've been pleased with how this shoe feels. It's very stable, comfortable and light weight with a decent amount of cushioning without feeling mushy. However, pretty quickly a few pieces of the outsole started peeling on the edges. I haven't put a huge amount of miles on them a the sole doesn't look very worn visibly but the upper has really been a let down. While it hasn't fully come apart, it started to slowly rip along the sole in a few spot and now wholes are starting to rub through by my pinky toes.
I moved into slightly longer distances this year so decided to give higher stack height altras a try to give my knees and feet some relief. Instead, I quickly developed hip issues. I found a good bit of research on the web that says that higher stack heights actually just transfer the load differently and adversely impact stability, leading to more injuries. I switched back to my moderate stack Escalantes and my hips have improved. The Torins are well made and cushy, but now they’ll be relegated to my slumming sneakers.
Loved previous versions of this show but they keep making changes with materials, design and toebox which have pushed me away from their shoes. Tried these for about 40 miles and had to return them due to little to no padding on the tongue and rubbing on the ankle from the edge of tongue material.
These are the comfiest shoes I've ever owned, and the wide toe box is great. I only occasionally wear them with light use and they have holes in the heel area. Awful quality for the price.
