Poor quality, fail within a year,
These deck boots are comfortable, look good and work well on boats in general. Sadly they won't last even one year with only moderate use. The first pair I got the rear pull on tab ripped out three months in. REI was great and replaced them with a new pair. Less than a year goes by and the rear pull tab ripped out again. I also notice lots of cracking in the toe rubber where the boot flexes when I walk. I've never had a pair of rubber boots that don't see that much use because garbage so quickly. I have an old pair of Xtratuf boots when they were made in the U.S. that are now around 20 years old. They still work as well as the day I got them. I would buy theses boots if you are good only using them for a max of 6 months or so.
Damaged soles
Nice looking boot but I’ve gotten 3 pairs so far from REI and all have damaged soles. Supposedly xtratuf said this is how they’re supposed to look. I’ll attach actual photos so you can decided for yourself.
Quality
Love the appearance and function, but the trim pieces started to fall off within a few months of purchase.
Disappointed
I have been a huge advocate for Extra Tuf for almost 8 years. I recently purchased the Men's Vintage 6-inch Ankle Deck Boot, and within a week, the tongue pull strap ripped off, making them extremely difficult to put on. I will still buy another pair, but I am disappointed with the quality of these boots compared to my previous Extra Tough products.
Great cushioned rain boots
I am not sure what people are doing with that pull tabs on these boots, but I had no issue putting these on without the need to use the pull tabs. Bought these boots the same day I left for a trip due to a dramatic forecast change for a family Disney vacation. I was pleased that there was a removable insole to slip a heal lift for under the insole of a boot. The insole has plenty of cushion. We were in constant rain for 2.5 days and my feet were completely dry and comfortable. I put 30 miles on these boots in 3 days on pavement and my feet could have sworn I was wearing cushioned running shoes.
Sole Separatin
My shoes are already separating from the sole within the first couple of weeks
Good but could be great
Really like these but they could use some improvements to the fit. I typically wear between 8.5 (Vans) to 9 (Danner) to 9.5 (UA). I bought a 9 and feel the length is good. But the issue is the width. No problem getting in and out of these boots, because they’re fairly loose fitting. I wish they were either a bit more snug or has a clasp to cinch them down to adjust the fit. Otherwise, love them. They’re exactly what I was after, despite the looser fit.
Look great, had defects so I had to return.
I really wanted to like these boots because they look very cool and I've had (4) pair of the brown since they came out. They had a manufacturing defect in the footbed and were impossible to walk in. I ended up having to send them back and trying to find a different pair locally. As many have stated the quality control seems to have gone down and while I may still buy a pair I won't order any on line.
Great pair of work shoes for outside.
I wanted shoes to work in the garden and also capable of running outside in the winter snow. We bought high top Extratuffs in Alaska when we were visiting our kids. So sizing was at least know. I usually wear 9.5 shoes. These are size 9 and work just fine. They get a little warm on sunny fall days, but comfortable and my foot is stable. Loving these shoes.
Great Store and Great Products
These are great boots. I have one foot where the big toe is partially on the next toe. Most boots are too shallow and narrow, and I cannot wear them without pain. I visited the store in Rochester, NY. Within 20 minutes, they were able to find boots that I can wear without pain.
