Works great!

I was not sure about these open ear headphones but I needed something to help my mind on long swim workouts so I ordered the xtrainerz. Loading music was easy and straightforward using iTunes on my Mac. My first couple of workouts were on a run and a bike ride and I must say I was very surprised at how well the xtrainerz work. The sound quality is pretty good and I could still hear everything around me. I ride with a Varia radar and never felt distracted or unsafe. My first pool swim went well too. I was a little worried about them falling off or being caught up in my goggle straps but the xtrainerz worked great with no issues. Music while swimming is great! I am an aftershokz fan!

Great idea, poor implementation

While the product from a first impression is made of a very high quality, after several use it is clear that there are serious flaws in this product. To begin with, the actual battery life is much less than advertised. I’m able to use the product only for 1 or 2 workouts of 45 minutes (total of 1.5 hours) before it asks me to charge it. Then after more use of the product the left side stopped working intermediately resulting with a mono headphone experience. In some cases both sides completely stopped working which completely ruined my swimming workout. I wish to know that the company has identified those issues and fixed them for future users.

Works great once you load your content

I love this product, however, Aftershokz team, please make things easier for the user. You can have a better on-line tutorial available for how to import your itunes songs to formats compatible with your device. Your video instruction is OK for those that have a Mac computer, but PC users are in for an educational ride on how to convert files and load them into your device. Once content is loaded into the device, and once you read the user manual, the device is great! Well done Aftershokz, just some improvements in your User Experience development and you will rock it. As a long time swimmer, I am extremely satisfied with your product, thank you!

Just My Opinion

Very good sound quality in stereo. Good charge and length of play back. So glad I can hear the music and the traffic while riding my bike. My ears don't hurt or ring the way earbuds can make it sometimes. It makes my long bike rides seem quicker as I concentrate on the music. Look forward to using it in the pool. Easy to use buttons. Feels secure on my big head. I wish I could rank my songs, like my old ipod. I wish it wouldn't play the same song within three hours of playing time. I did a few chores in two hours this morning and heard two songs three times without turning it off. I've loaded hundreds of songs on it, so there's plenty to choose from.

These headphones have got me back into swimming!

I swam for 40 or so years without music, competitive training and just on my own. My wife bought me these and I was very skeptical - but, just like when running, having some rocking beats in my head really makes a difference! A don't get bored, I stay focused and love it! The sound is great (wear the earplugs, it makes a huge difference). I download podcasts with 45-60 minute mixes of music, so I don't have to touch the controls again. Best under a cap to stop them moving around, but even without they stay in place. My original pair stopped charging and they replaced them no questions asked - great service AND a great product!

Good idea... missing key functionality

At first glance these were impressive. Well made. Great packaging. Then I realized no one has addressed using them with Audible. They don't support Audible downloads. How is that possible? Most of the runners and swimmers I know use Audible. I called for support and the team had no idea how to deal with this. I mentioned that this was an issue worth sending to marketing and engineering, but they said those teams don't take phone calls and aren't interested in hearing from the consumer. Haha. Well, good luck with that Aftershokz. That's a recipe for company failure. I am in the process of returning these. This product is useless to me... hence the 1-star.

Awesome headphones for swimming

I've used these in the pool for about 6 hours total so far, and it really makes swimming enjoyable. I like swimming, but it can feel like a chore sometimes; but using these headphones make swimming enjoyable every time! It was a little hard to adjust it under my cap the first couple time, but it doesn't hurt when I put to above my bun. Also the earplugs that came with work great if you push them in. It's easy to upload music to, and it has a long battery life. The only thing that's a con is that it only comes with it's special charging cord (which makes sense as it's a specialized product), so if you were to lose it, you can't use another cord, obviously.

So much love! We use for swim training

Got these for my husband as an early Father’s Day gift as he is training for his first half ironman. Not to mention I get to use them as well! These are fantastic! The sound is even better in the water, which is mind boggling to me. They are comfortable and great sound. And you cannot feel them when swimming, imo. My ears hurt a little bit if I wear them under my swim cap for too long, talking swims 40 min and plus, but I am sensitive, lol. My husband loves them and is enjoying his swim training so much more now! We didn’t have any water headphones prior to these, so we can’t compare. Love them. Would buy again, no hesitation.

A game changer for swimming

Listening to audiobooks makes swimming and running much more fun for me. I find my Xtrainerz very comfortable -- my swim cap holds them securely in place. They stay in place while I'm running, too. Navigating between folders and modes and things isn't totally intuitive, but it's doable. The volume isn't as loud as I'd like it, but there are apps you can use to increase the volume of your MP3s. It's not great for audiobooks because even if the file names are in alphabetical order, they don't play in that order. I have to load the files onto the device one at a time in reverse order, and then they play in the correct order. But all in all, it's a great device.

Shokz are Radical man!

Waterproof headphones never ever occurred to me as possible. All I was looking fir was a good offline mp3 player for work and outdoors. Bone conduction?? That sold it fir ne, having my ears free is very important in a busy workplace so these were a perfect choice. The fact that I can jog to the ocean and jump in while continuing to listen to music is amazing. They also sound much better once your ears are submerged! (Possibly similar to using earplugs with them. I havn't tried because earplugs hurt my ears). I will be recommending these to everyone. Sometimes I just wear them around because I like how they feel! haha
