These are incredibly comfortable and won’t need much breaking in. They do run a 1/2 size bigger. I am normally a size 7 but these run big and a 6 1/2 fit better. Love the colors and so happy with the shoes!!
Due to the lower stack, the sneaker has the right amount of ground feel for technical New England trains including lots of hills, uneven surfaces, snow ice, brook crossings. I feel protected despite no rock plate. It you prefer un-plated and ground feel, this is a great option. Unfortunately, the toebox is narrow. It's very secure fitting, but I'll unfortunately have to try men's for my foot with a bunion, as this specific model does not come in wide. Purchase in person, and recommend getting in-store if you can to simply fitting.
Fell apart after 5 short trail runs (less than 35 miles). Foam peeled away from the base of the shoe and split at both the arch and toe.
I loved the shoe but I had the same issue as other reviewers where the bottom of the shoe delaminated after a very short period of use. The shoes were in great shape aside from the delamination that was a tripping hazard on the trail. HOKA should reconsider the tread being one piece since the whole thing begins peeling off or find a better glue. I think if they can correct that issue it'd be an awesome shoe.
I have wanted a pair of Hokas for awhile now, but stuck with my tried and true brand (brookes) until several people absolutely raved about their Hokas. I buy hiking sneakers every 4-5 months. Shoes are very important to me and I will pay good money for them. I studied the different Hoka styles and ultimately bought the Torrent 3, as they seemed to fit the bill, walking parts of the AT and other trails in my area. Honestly, these shoes feel like I bought them for Walmart....nothing special! I so wanted Hokas to become "my" brand, but I will not shell out another $130+ for them. They fell like $20 knock around shoes.
I love HOKA shoes but am slightly disappointed in the Torrent. I find them to be very firm and slightly stiff, without a lot of cushion like some other trail shoes. No matter how I adjust the lacing, this model has created ankle discomfort. It is definitely not ideal for pavement or daily walking, at least for me. Trail performance is better but overall, I'm not a huge fan. I like the Challenger much better.
These shoes are a much brighter purple than they appear on the page, I thought I was buying a fairly black pair of shoes otherwise good shoes
I run long distances on road and trail with these shoes. I have been buying Hoka Torrents for years now. I loved torrent 1, 2 was ok, back to loving the torrent 3 model. Will be buying another pair soon.
I have been a fan of Hola shoes for several years and I own many pairs. This is the first pair I have been disappointed with. They look great. Fit fine. But when I walk, they are clunky and by far not as comfortable to wear. I tend to prefer trying shoes on before buying, but I have have great luck with ordering other Hokas online. I plan to only buy Hokas after trying them in the store.
After researching trail shoes/runners for a while, I landed on these. They’re lightweight with great traction, and very comfortable. I’ve worn them on light to moderate hikes and they didn’t disappoint. I’m hooked on Hoka now!
