Awesome watch

I’ve had this watch for about 3 weeks. I had an instinct and it was great but I wanted something a little fancier. This watch works the same with 5 buttons and tracks well. It works great on outdoor runs and it’s actually pretty accurate on my treadmill, the instinct was usually not in sync with my treadmill. The workout tracking is good for weight training. I like the watch faces but I’d prefer a few more options. It’s comfortable but it doesn’t track my heart rate as well as the instinct. I have tattoos and I know they create an issue. The reason I switched from Apple Watch to Garmin was because of that. The Garmin still tracks my runs while the Apple Watch would pause constantly. Heart rate isn’t a deal breaker for me so the watch still does what I need and I recommend buying it.

Great for cycling

This updated version of the Garmin Forerunner allows for simultaneous pairing with sensors (power meters, speed, cadence). You could use this watch as a mini bike computer. Amazing value for money. I would trade some battery life for a brighter screen.

An excellent running watch

As a high school XC and track athlete, I was looking for something to replace my two year old coros pace 2, which I adored. This watch has done more than just replaced it so far. Its GPS works instantly, so i dont have to wait for it to connect, its interface is very easy to learn it only took me a few days. The size of this watch is perfect for me (5'11 145lbs) it shows my paces very large and visible so I don't have to squint or pull it closer. I also noticed the watch is very fast when starting or ending a workout there is almost no delay time. My only complaint is the different buttons took a bit of getting used to because I was familiar with the coros dial which I thought was more practical. Other than that it is an excellent watch for running athletes.

Not working well so far

Garmin Pay errors out when I try to add a card (Visa). Simply responds with “Error: something went wrong”. Weather won’t show any data at all. Yes - synched and connected and GPS enabled and permissions allowed. And the software update keeps trying to send “update” but doesn’t complete.

Pace and Elevation perhaps inaccurate

I traded from a Forerunner 245 Music, which shows 90% of my runs at least 30 seconds faster. I also had this watch for more than 3 years. I don't know which is right. However, it does measure the intensity at a higher level than my old Forerunner 245 Music. The battery life is much improved.

Perfect Run Companion

I'm 3 weeks into daily wear of my FR255 and it has been great. My primary needs out of a watch are pace, distance, and elevation to assist with marathon training, and this watch does great for these metrics. I also powerlift but haven't used this watch to try tracking anything in the gym, only running. It's capable of far more than my current use demands of it. I have found the Body Battery data to be pretty useful as well. I had no need for the latest and greatest AMOLED displays and such, so the FR255 turned out to be precisely the watch for me. If you're after a simple yet feature-rich watch, regardless your sport, this is a solid choice.

Love This

I love everything about this watch. The features it comes with are amazing but the sleep tracking lacks in my opinion. Overall the watch is beautiful and has a nice design. Would highly recommend this if your a runner.

Great Watch for Runners or Really Anyone

Received this almost a month ago now. Watch is great, accurate, and loaded with features. The user interface is easy to use (probably better than an apple watch), and still highly customizable. Watch has a nice exterior design too which looks good really anywhere, whether in formal or casual environment. Face can also be changed to an analog face if you want to use it in a more formal environment. Battery life is good, and it charges fast too. No issues pairing with iPhone. As a runner it is very useful for running, it calculates metrics that are highly useful especially for people who are training for races. Can say nothing bad about this watch.

Great upgrade.

I’ve been using it for about two weeks. It’s so much better than my old FR 235. HR monitor is very accurate. I compared against my chest HR monitor and I’m pretty happy with the results. The tracking while you sleep is pretty consistent. You can in fact see a trending, the results aren’t all over the place like my old watch. The battery is very good. I have the tracking set to the max accuracy and battery life is still great and accuracy. This watch has a lot of sensors for people who likes data like me, and you can get even more if paired with external sensor like running power which is great. So far I haven’t found anything I don’t like. The connectivity with the phone is pretty reliable also. I didn’t have any issues.
