Trash

Bought this 3 weeks ago. Looked like a decent shell jacket for the price, and I associated Columbia with quality. Boy was I wrong. I have not gone hiking, skiing, etc with this jacket. Strictly light-duty use. It's only been worn a handful of times between the house and the car and a couple times shoveling the driveway, and it's completely fallen apart. The seam at the back of the shoulder ripped, and the zipper failed, rendering it utterly useless. The level of quality is downright irresponsible. Materials had to be produced and sewn, it had to be shipped from Indonesia and then to the store, and now it's going directly to the landfill. Really expected better from Columbia, which used to produce some good stuff. Guess they've decided to plow their good name into the ground to make a quick buck.

Great during monsoon in Thailand

I’ve read other reviews that say jacket isn’t good I assure you it’s great. I use it in the monsoon season in Thailand. It doesn’t rain any harder in the world than there and you stay dry so I don’t know what these other people are saying but I’m telling you I love the jacket I’ve had it several years. I’m buying another one for my girlfriend fantastic other than it’s 60 more dollars now than when I bought mine originally ha ha fabulous jacket.

Keep Trying - You Will Find What You Need

After trying another garment, I tried this Rain Shell, this is what I needed. This jacket is light weight, stops the rain and wind, and is easy to carry along when not wearing. The under arm vents come in handy when exerting yourself (walking, climbing ladders, carrying, etc.) The hood does come a little too far into my face but wearing a nice cap stop this and I often wear on with the other. I would give this a 5 star rating but I will reserve the 5 star for the perfect jacket - which I haven't found, yet.

Wetted out on 2nd Day

I took this jacket hiking on rainy/windy days in the Scottish Highlands. 1st day OK, 2nd day completely wetted out. Needless to say it was a miserable experience. Got home (with it dry) and just put it on my laundry line and did a light hose spray on it just to verify, and it was as absorbent as a towel.

Seems good quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jacket looks very high quality and build. I am training to be a field researcher in Wildlife Biology and I purchased this jacket to use for field work in the Amazon Rainforest studying Primates this summer.

What I needed!

The coat jacket was lighter weight than my old one but is better suited for my needs. Vented underarms were great and fits well over sweatshirt and rain proof!

Very Nice

A bit pricey, but sometimes you will pay for quality. I'm happy so far with my purchase and I really like the head cinch on the top to counteract the wind.

Great rain jacket for active fun. Pit zips really makes a difference. No issue on quality, but it is brand new.
