Get one while you can

Too bad this jacket is being closed out. The pit zips extend from almost the elbow to the hem, allowing a person to attach their pack waist belt under the front of the jacket. The front pockets are cavernous, affording room for snacks, gloves or even a small frameless pack. In addition to my hands. The hood fits well. The jacket runs large as does the hood. The hem cinch cord only works on the rear hem. The front zipper is one way only. It does stuff into its own pocket. The sleeves run a little long which I prefer. I would say a good buy at it’s original price and a steal now.

Maybe the manufacturing specs changed?

This is a very well made jacket. Unfortunately, the design must have changed while the web site pictures remain the same. I bought it specifically because of the ability to fully unzip the sides. However, the jacket that arrived does not have this ability. You CAN unzip the side zippers all the way down, but they do not have the capacity to actually detach. The person I spoke with at Columbia confirmed this. I am not sure what happened with the zipper design but unless you plan to use a lot of force, the bottom ends do not detach like in the photos. Weird. I will be returning the jacket.

I like the side zippers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hello I dont usually review things but I saw this other review on this product complaining about the zippers going all the way down the sides. Now I researched many jackets before purchasing this one to use as a shell for my winter hiking outfit. Honestly the full side zippers is the reason I bought this jacket for full venting power. So to the person who designed this jacket you did awesome and that other reviewer isnt using the jacket as intended. Thank you

Good color for visibility

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rain shell has a good light/dark color combination to provide some visibility (without being garish neon). It is sized for layering (say over a vest or fleece), which provides versatility. For a size S, the sleeves are very long.
